We Just Can't Wait

We know they won't even last three days. And Halloween is more than two weeks away. But we have already carved three pumpkins at the house. And I believe there will be more carved in the days leading up to our carving party on the 26th.

Here are this season's pumpkins so far.

Beth did a velociraptor.
I did a Space Alien.

And Beth.

This is from her old MySpace picture.

Jorge,

It seems *everyone* is blogging :)

I also just wanted you to know my wife and I started watching Lost about 2 months ago, and have already caught up. Coincidentally, I have started saying "dude" much more.

Keep up the great work.

Cheers,
Dave

Over the weekend, I found out that veloceraptors were only 3 feet tall. What a bummer.

we did the first two over a week ago. we just can't wait! jorge won't let me buy the trick or treat candy yet though because he knows i'll eat it all before any child even reaches our doorstep.

You have mad carving skills. Are you going to do a tutorial for the rest of us? I can't get over how detailed the carving is. You could make a killing at the swap meet.

Y don´t you carve a large...a large..
a large...Pumpkin...
Ok, I give up. Here in Brazil we don´t celebrate Halloweens like USA. Actually, we don´t celebrate Halloween.

Greeting from Brazil!

Jorge, When are y'all going to start filming again? I'm getting jittery from withdrawals.

Those look great! You might be able to make the pumpkins last if you wrap them in plastic wrap and put them in the fridge.

Dude. Those are pretty awesome. Perhaps if the acting thing ever falls through, you've got a backup in pumpkin carving :D

Hi! Those pumpkins rock! Did you use patterns or make them up yourself?

I found your blog through my friends on publicenemiescolumbus.blogspot. Stop by sometimes, we have a lot of fun in the comments section. Everyone is welcome.

Have a great day!

I am truly impressed by you both. I could never do anything approaching it. And Beth, you know it's love when he puts your face on a pumpkin! :o)

Those are SO cool! The most I do is paint on ours. I could never do stuff like that.

Those are awesome pumpkins! Sucks that pumpkins don't last here in Hawaii. I'm waiting until the 29th to carve mine. Can't wait to see what other carvings you come up with!

I wish I lived in America because of the Halloween hype. I'm in the UK and it just isn't celebrated over here. It's mainly just for the kids so they can go trick or treating.

But I'd love to go to a Halloween Party in America and dress up and carve pumpkins! It'd just be more exciting over there :)

PS. Those pumpkins are fab! x

Very cool designs. A friend of mine carved the Quake logo in to a pumpkin one Halloween. The game was new then, so that's....damn, that's a long time ago now.

Awesome carvings. Just wanted to say that I love the header picture you have. I'm a big fan of Kailua/Lanikai beach, try to make it there at least month if not more. Those islands are awesome to kayak to!

The alien looks really cool!

WOW! What amazing pumpkins! You are professionals!! I just popped over from Mary's blog to say hello!

We're so lazy we don't even bother carving a pumpkin anymore. We only get about 15 trick-or-treaters anyhow. We give out Kinder-Surprise eggs for Halloween. they seem popular because of the toy inside.

Jorge,

Those are awesome Jack-o-lanterns! No doubt about it! My brother has grown some 700 pound aquash/pumpkins. Mostly for the seeds, which are delicious when toasted, and he does compete at fairs for largest squash/pumpkin. But trying to get those things onto the flatbed in the field - geez you give yourself a pumpkin size hernia.

Excellent!

In Ireland years ago, before we started copying America in nearly everything (good and bad) we used turnips :)
Now pumpkins are everywhere and the poor turnip plays no part other than as part of the dinner.

There was no trick or treating either, it was a night for divilment :) the more innocent ringing of doorbells and running away to the more dangerous posting lit fireworks through your door or destroying someones property.
Mad!

Wow! You guys are creative! Or is pumpkin-carving taught in schools in some places? We don't do Halloween so much in the UK.

Hoku said...

Wow! Even better than last year. I am impressed, especially with the pumpkin Beth... you both are talented. I usually do the triangle action, but you are inspiring me. I think a trip to Aloun farms in Ewa is on my calender. Maybe see you out there pumpkin picking...

Hi Jorge,

Visiting your blog is a high point of my week, a special treat I delay until when ready to relax and enjoy. I loved your pumpkins, such creativity! I wanted to tell you about somebody I saw who looked like you. I live IN Rome, Italy , a block from the Colosseum, and was waiting for the number three bus to take me to the university for a class, when I heard a guy talking to a waitress at the bar next to the stop , in front of the Colosseum, and I did a double take! He was a Spaniard that looked just like you, except that he had grown a wild goatee about 6 inches long, like a pharoah's beard and he had died it henna red! He was really funny , talking to the waitress, saying he wanted to go to greece next and take the ferry back home to Spain, his voice even sounded a lot like yours, but in Castillian Spanish, you've got at least one double ringer out there! For a moment I wondered if it wasn't you in disguise....! Are you going to be another oyster with pearl again? That was a wonderful photo, I showed that to many friends, it was so clever a costume! We're all so impatient to see the new series of Lost over here in Italy, you're the best part of it in my opinion. It's been such fun following the series, a fable for sdults who want to dream...seeing all that green of hawaii reminds me of when I lived there, and the good times we had, anything seemed possible there back then, too, being on a luxuriously foliaged rock thousands of miles from nowhere, with an unusual mix of people from from everywhere, all trying to make their dreams come true in paradise. Glad to see paradise again on your show, hope you're enjoying it to the hilt. Come january we'll all be raring at the bit to see Lost again, can't wait. At least you are kind enough to gift us all with your blog, it's really a pleasure to see you again!
Best wishes from Mary

I love your pumpkins! The one of Bethany is just awesome. Cute pic Bethany! Some serious talent over there!

We carve pictures into our pumpkins too. There is a preservation kit you can get at the store that will make it last ALOT longer.

Do you guys decorate the house too? siiigh...I just love this time of year.
From here on out I am a decorating fool, lol.

Man...I need to hire you to carve my pumpkins! We had a mother/daughter sleepover Friday night at our church and you should have seen some of the results...they were pretty sad, but we had loads of fun!

Hey dude! Eu sou seu fã, acho que o seu personagem é o mais carismático de todos no seriado, um dos poucos que não desconfio. Sempre me divirto com ele. Um grande abraço e parabéns pelo excelente trabalho! (Português - Brasil)

Dude! Nice pumpkins. If you want them to not shrivel up soak them in water. I see you already have a nice washtub that would work perfectly. Try it, all the little pieces that shrivel, plump right back up. Voila! Just like new.

Love your blog and your work on LOST.

Dude, that is freaking amazing!

Hey Jorge, I am a huge fan of Lost. Your character amazes me and i think you will be "the" one who will be "special". I can't wait to see what season 5 will bring. I love the show and you are a superb actor.
Your pumpkins are really awesome, you are some artist.
Your pictures are great also.
Looking forward to seeing you next season.
Have a great day.
