Vancouver Aquarium

I love visiting Vanaqua. The last time I was here I got to go behind the scenes and play with some sea lions. This time we got to play with dolphins. I'm waiting on pictures from that but they haven't arrived yet. So I'm proceeding without.
My favorite animals are always the sea otters. They're just so damn adorable that I could watch them the whole day. Here they feed them shellfish that is frozen in ice cubes and rings.
Um... excuse me... it appears someone installed your jelly fish tank upside down.
No worries I'll just flip the picture around.
I've seen puffer fish in private aquariums.
They are a cool looking fish but I think I'd only want to own one if I could train it to do this on command.

haha those pics are great - you could def make a living as a photographer! And I'm first commenter - score! Loved your stuff about Ireland. I live in the west of Ireland, so it made me smile. Thanks for the positive Ireland reviews!

Sad news, Nyac the otter died last week from cancer. He seemed to have a pretty great, long life at the Aquarium though :)

The two big mountains on your new banner reminded me of a joke about Pamela Anderson that I'm far too polite to make.

The photo of what looked like a hairy beaver below didn't help restrain me.

... you're going to delete this comment aren't you?

glad you got to the aquaruim jorge.. me and my daughter went when we were down here this past Jan.. had taken alot of photos of the otters. one of them got out of the water and went over to where my daughter was standing and got up on his hind legs to look at her. :-) sad news that one of them had died, least she lived a nice right ol' age of 20. wished i could share my photos of them on here with you and everyone. My fave are the dolphins and especaily the beluga whales... the aquarium right now has a contest to name the new baby beluga.. and they also have a live cam where you can watch both the otters and the beluga whales. you can go to the aquariums website to check them out on the live web cam they have.. http://www.vanaqua.org/home/

OMG... when my boyfriend and I went to the Vancouver Aquarium, I spent the majority of my time at the otter tank, watching Bobs and Lolo (the pair there at the time). I was in love with them -- so much so, that otters became one of my very favorite animals.

So sad about Nyac, as someone else posted; I wonder what happened. :(

I can't believe you posted a picture of a puffer/blowfish! I JUST mentioned them to someone earlier as being the most adorable fish on the planet!

Jorge,

Puffer fish are my heroes. While most people are trying to look thin to get attention, puffer fish flip the strategy to serve their needs.

Sadly, what most people don't realize is that when puffers are filled with air like that, it kills them. Puffers should never be removed from the water because of that. To puffer keepers, the image of an inflated puffer is horrifying and cruel. :( That particular puffer is a T.lineatus and yes, it has teeth and can snap a finger in half when its full size (18 inches or so).

Love the rest though, thanks for sharing!

I love otters!!! They are like water-cats and I love cats. I could watch them swim and play all day. I've never been to Vancouver - heard it's cool though.

LOL on the upside-down jellyfish tank.

I woke up somewhere around 4 a.m. w/ a tummy ache, praying that my kids and I aren't coming down w/ a stomach bug, and have been killing time online until I feel better & can sleep. Thanks for keeping me company. You seem so down-to-earth, like someone we would know IRL. Your blog has been a great read. I found it on Cake Wrecks and have read all the back posts to here. Bookmarking. I'm going to try to go back to sleep (5:06 a.m.).
