A HEARTy Breakfast

Happy Valentines Day everyone.

For breakfast I tried to make everything heart-shaped.
The bacon was the hardest.
Next year I think I'll cook actual heart meat.
That way, it won't matter what shape it's in.

I actually shuddered and heaved at the thought of waking up Valentine Morn to lovingly cooked heart meat...
I could write something witty and clever but instead I choose to be boring and practical...why not ham cut in the shape of a heart? It would be less revolting...

Olivia said...

But would you EAT the heart meat? Because THAT would be love, man. (Or....something else entirely.)

I put you on my blog list, you are great!

How very sweet & thoughtful. Now if you can get some hashbrowns to go with that, then we'll be in business. LOL!

Couldn't you do canadian bacon cut out like a heart?!?

Gilsner said...

Please don’t serve heart next year, it’s supposed to look like a coronary, not give one! Lol. Besides, I think the true question at hand is this: how do you get your bacon so deliciously crispy? Seriously, do tell!

Ellen Davila said...

Off topic, but have you tried Dirty Lickins chicken in Aiea? It's in the Aiea mall or whatever, by the bowling alley. We left the island last year and all I can think about is this chicken!

wharfrat said...

How about cutting some SPAM into a heart shape? Course it is not actually 'good' for your heart but...

Aloha and good morning Jorge.

Sean Craven said...

If you want to cook some heart these little suckers are right tasty. Marinated meat on a skewer? There's no way to go wrong.

we accidentally ate only pink food: steak, beet salad, and blueberry crisp. soooo romantic.

Oh Jorge! Nice try anyway....

I own a bakery and we did some neat things: caramel drizzle hearts on the pumpkin scones, pink cream cheese icing for the cinnamon buns, chocolate hearts on the chocolate hearts, etc... Twas a hit with all! Please drop by if yr ever in Canadaland, I've seen Evie come in before...

What a sweet and romantic gesture!! I'm sure Bethany appreciated it.

(I, too, found your blog through Cake Wrecks. I just read every single post - yeah, I'm a loser! - and I'll be adding you to my blog list. I heart LOST, and I totally heart Hurley ;-) )

Very sweet! Hope you two had a great Valentine's Day!

Pauline Laing said...

G'day,
Just spent a chunk of the morning reading your blog - so delightful to read about gingerbread houses, pumpkin carving and Paris.
You can get silicon egg rings in heart shapes, but I'll bet someone's already told you that.
See ya
Pauline
Also got here through Cake Wrecks.
Now, what was I SUPPOSED to be doing today?

jajajajaja, muy buena foto.

sorry, I'll try to speak in english... ¿?¿?¿?

o
"panza llena, corazón contento" jajaja

primera vez que paso a firmar, pero visito el blog seguido.
I post for first time. I usually visit your blog.

sorry for my english. I'm argetinian.

Have you considered the options of a heart based organ-meat breakfast?

You could get a beef heart and stuff it with chicken hearts...mmm, heart surprise!

Turducken Heart... a chicken heart in a duck heart in a turkey heart.

My personal favorite would be serving a bowl of deep fried chicken hearts, crisp and puffy like Heart Crispies. Just add milk.

Movie Star Wife said...

Jorge,
Do you think you could give my husband some pointers in the romance department? Hee Hee.

The cutesy hearts are so much more desirable than the real thing. I'm thinking about the cardiac exam I took last week in nursing school. Blech!

Cindy Swanson said...

That was great, Jorge! Not long ago, I accidentally made a chicken breast in the shape of Texas (which is where I'm from originally.) My mom, who lives in Texas, always jokes that nothing is made in the shape of Illinois (where my husband is from.)

It wasn't as cool as having a tortilla with a picture of the Virgin Mary on it, but it really did look like Texas! :)

Capmaster said...

Yes, the bacon is the heartest to do.

Josh Martin said...

I have just found out about your blog and I'm totally addicted! I can't wait to see more of your posts and to keep updated with the real hurley.

When I was in middle school a friend of ours would let us hang out at her house behind the neighborhood pool every morning before the pool opened. We would play various board games and such but what I remember most, was she would put food coloring in our pancakes and make fun shapes out of them. This made me think of that.

I made my wife a hot chocolate tonight with our newly used espresso machine and put a heart in the froth using some of the chocolate from the milk. It's fun to make shapes out of food and drinks.

Nerdmom said...

That's adorable.

I think heart meat would be rather tough and gamy, but hey, people do eat it. See also: haggis.

Happy belated Valentine's Day!

Michelle McCrary said...

Aw, that was so sweet! Maybe you should give my hubby some tips, although I won't eat eggs no matter what shape they are in!

Line said...

Awww that´s so sweet!

Erica said...

Very cute. Next year I think you should do sausage in the shape of a heart (jimmy dean style of course) along with pancakes in the shape of a heart (use a cookie cutter to shape)
and the hashbrowns someone else mentioned - easy to heart shape.

ValMo said...

Oh my gosh, that's cuteness overload for me!!

Now that is sweet!

That breadstick (a breadstick?) looks obscene, man. But it's the thought that counts. ;)

Happy Belated Valentines Day!

peewee said...

now, if you could just make that all up into a heart-croissanwich. You'd give BK a run for their money!

The link to the egg ring was good. I was going to suggest you find a large heart-shaped cookie cutter for the same purpose.
