New York Trip

So I went to New York a few weeks ago to do Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

They put me up at Le Parker Meridien. This was a very entertaining hotel.

First off, check out this key.
It's huge! I kept whipping it out to show my friends because I'd never seen a key that big. Is this supposed to make it harder to lose or easier, because it's not like I can fit this into my wallet for safe keeping now.

These are the glasses in the bathroom.
These are also the kind of glasses used for tequila shooters in CancĂșn. But here you can rinse your toothpaste out with them.

The Laundry form was written like a police report.
"Your clothes are so dirty it's a crime"

And the room service menu has a whole page dedicated to food for your pets.
Which also includes a CD of "mood music" for them.

I liked staying in this hotel. And they serve the best breakfast in New York here.

This has nothing to do with the hotel, but when I got to the hotel I noticed I had a silvery gray mark on my thumb.
Don't know what I rubbed up against to do that. And I was able to wash it off. But I found it to be mysterious. Did I thumb wrestle one of those silver painted robot street performers?

No polar bears food? Dude I would never had stay in that hotel more than a second. What the heck do they want that I do with my teddy polar?

collettemn said...

They excluded polar bears. Isn't that just a little bit biased?

The laundry report is too clever. Hope it was a good trip overall. Cool murals at FOX too. It's so neat to see these things, thanks for sharing with everyone!

Seriously, where are you supposed to keep a key like THAT?!

I've stayed there for work, very cool ultra modern hotel. Did you by chance try the burger joint hidden in the lobby? The only sign for it is a neon burger. Dude, they're the best hamburgers EVER.

Here's the link about the burger joint, in case you may be interested...

Oh George, your key is SO BIG! LOL

You guys could probably use that dirty laundry ticket on the Lost set.

You probably did wrestle a robot, he just zapped your memory of it.

Your blog is the best! It always makes me smile! Hope you won the thumb wrestle. :)

Okay, that key is insane. How are you suppose to carry that?

Very cool that they have a pet menu.

The burger bar has nothing on Norma's for breakfast. Pleeease tell me you went to Norma's! I love their "Wazaa", the waffles with fresh fruit and a creme brulee topping. It's also home of the infamous $1,000 omelette.

Burger Joint in the lobby is SO GOOD. I haven't been there in a couple years because I don't work close to that hotel anymore but I need to go back soon. If you didn't get a chance to go there do it next time :)

The mark is probably from the Shower Curtain! it happens at my house. the metal from the hooks, rubs against the metal of the curtain rod, which makes little metal dust. That is just a theory.

I love Le Parker Meridien! I eat at Norma's whenever I can get work to pay for it. ;) Glad you had a good stay.

With big keys like that you are meant to hand them in at reception every time you go out! Are they not common in the States?

And EW EW EW re that hotel glasses story!

OMG, I think I won´t be able to go to a hotel like that in my whole life, lol!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! That key is hilarious!!! Totally classic

Cool hotel. My laundry basket is definitely a crime scene. Ohh and the big key - is it to make you feel like a 'real man'? Or maybe it's so you can say 'Boy, am I pleased to see you or could it just be this ginormous key in my pocket?' :)

Totally cool hotel! The key is too big, but I love the glasses! The laundry ticket is very clever. Do you take Nunu with you in your travels? If so, you could really make use of that menu!

That laundry form is fucking brilliant.
When I went to jail (I won't go into details) I should have stripped and given my dirty clothes to the po-lice.
They never would have seen that coming.

Fuck tha police.

More importantly: did you win?

The poor polar bears are always getting shafted. Sheesh.

Christina Bauer said...

They need to serve fish biscuits. But what a great way to "entertain" the guests! Good way to be different from other hotels, I guess. And I love how random you are with the "silvery gray mark". Oh, you always make me laugh, Jorge!

Jules said...

Wow. The Parker Meridian really stepped up the cool factor! They used to be a regular hotel back in the day. I hope you took advantage of the pet menu!

OnceBitten said...

were you carrying a plastic bag with color printed on it? I've had 'mysterious' colors show up on my hands from store's printed plastic bags. it's gross

Grapes are toxic to dogs... I hope that no canine guests got sick from dining at the hotel. It's pretty awesome though that they have their own menu!

Are you talking about Norma's for breakfast? I love that place and go there every time I'm in NYC.

The silver/grey mark on your thumb, we're you carrying anything on a hanger? It could be "hanger dirt" which you learn about when you work at a retail clothing store. Yeah, the things your learn....
