Happy Thanksgiving Folks!

We had a great day of cooking and feasting.

I'm going to put you to work Kitchen Aid.
I forgot what the screwdriver and can of compressed air were for.
This year we opted to just make a breast instead of a whole bird. It was so good, I impressed myself. I made an herb butter that I spread under the skin. I also skewered a couple apples to it too because it was a little wobbly without the thighs and legs.
Here's a shot of the spread.

And a Virgil's Rootbeer (the BEST!) to put it over the top.
Even Nunu got a small plate.

She's not so into corn.

  4. We did just about the same thing. Turkey breast instead of the whole bird, and for the wife and I it was plenty. I made an awesome pumpkin pie-cake instead of a pumpkin pie. Here's to quiet Thanksgivings in Hawaii. Happy Thanksgiving!

  16. Happy Turkey Day Jorge and company! We did only the breast this year as well. It was yummy. The best part this year, my hubby did all the cooking - WOO HOO.

  17. Happy Day after Thanksgiving! Your Pie Looked great. This is what I do w/ my Kitchen Aid. After dinner is ready I was the bowl and put it in the freezer, dry. It gets nice and cold-perfect for mixing homemade whipped cream fast and creamy. It will stay whipped for about 1-2 days. It would be grat on your awesome looking pumpkin pie. RU you guys shopping today?

  18. Happy Thanksgiving Jorge!

Thank you so much for your blog, it's so refreshing to get the Celebrity point of view of their own lives, rather than the papparazzi/people/tmz/hyped up versions. I love your show, and I've gotten to be a much bigger fan of you, (though Hurley was always one of my favorite characters as it was) from getting a glimpse of your humor and personality. Hope to see you in more things after LOST!

  20. Very nice! I'm glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. I hope you and Beth and Nanu have a wonderful Holiday season!

ps - don't you just LOVE that Kitchen Aid mixer. That and my Oaster blender are just the coolest! Kitchen gadgets are my weekness.

  21. LOL! Well, that's OK because you'd probably end up seeing that corn again anyway (d'oh). Awesome spread. We had our Thanksgiving in Canada weeks ago... I really need to start celebrating the American one, too, just for the hell of it.

  26. How awesome! Your dinner looks terrific. I can compare my dinner to yours. We went to the in-laws where they brined a turkey and had a bunch of sides that were tasty. Your pumpkin pie looks awesome!!! Will you send me a slice if I ask???

  29. LOL.. Happy Thanksgiving Jorge. Nunu is so cute. My dog would have inhaled that corn.. and Nunu if she'd been standing between her and the corn.

  30. We had our meal today. Turkey Breast, Gravy, Au Gratin Potatoes, Green Beans, Corn, Stuffing and Cheese Bread! I baked 3 kinds of cookies yesterday. Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin and Peanut Butter! Warming up the leftovers for dinner this evening, but not baking more bread. Stuffing's enough! LOL! WILL cook more green beans, though. Polished them off at lunch and want more! LOL! Great Thanksgiving spread there, Jorge!

  35. Looks good! Glad you had a Happy Thanksgiving, we did too! :) My son always brines the turkey before he roasts it, fills it with aromatics instead of stuffing. Yum!

  36. Love your pic with the Kitchen Aid. I use mine all the time--actually wore one out and had to buy another one. I, too, make an herbed butter rub to put under the skin. Your turkey breast and the sides look very delicious! We're having a delayed Thanksgiving so my husband (deployed) can enjoy it with us on his R&R soon. Nothing like two birthdays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas wrapped up in one month. :) I'm glad Nunu liked her meal--tell her the corn is good for her. :)

  41. Hope you guys had a really wonderful day. Thank you for sharing your spread, it looks like it was wonderful.

I had something similar and spent the day with my son and a friend and she brought wine.

I could leave you a piece of our Cheesecake Factory snickers or raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake. :-)

    Besos~~

  42. Happy Thanksgiving Jorge, seems you had a great day :)
We don't celebrate this tradition in Denmark - we are a pretty boring nation when it comes to traditions in my opinion. There is not much tradition for Halloween either, which is such a pity.

  43. I just wanted you to know that I love reading your blog. It's great and so interesting to see little snippets from your life (even though I've never met you).

And I sympathize with Nunu-- I think corn is the worst of all the vegetables, and that includes brussels sprouts.

  44. I cooked my very first thanksgiving turkey this year. It turned out fantastic. We all had a pot luck thing at the theatre i work at, so it was a very interesting and culturally diverse thanksgiving dinner.

  45. Our pet rats get pumpkin pie every year. This year we pigged out on so much stuff, (50+ people!), that we had almost nothing for the critters to nosh on afterward. So I made them a pumpkin pie. (yea, rat mom.)

  46. Awww - I love that. My dog leaves the things she doesn't like - but she takes it right off the plate!

  47. Nunu would eat corn if you made my special Cornbread Souffle. I only make it for Thanksgiving and Christmas because it's like a major fat bomb. The ingredients include cornbread mix, canned cream corn, butter, eggs, sour cream ... ohmygawd it's so good! It truly is freakin' delicious. My kids inhale it, I swear.
