Jorge,

I hope you will continue to blog. It helps us LOST fans dealing with withdrawals from the show. Incredible performance throughout the entire series. I look forward to seeing what happens with you and the rest of the cast in the future, though you will always be remembered as "Hurley" in my mind.

Jorge: Thank you for all these years you were playing Hurley. Thanks you for be with us and give us so many funny times, sad times, amazing times.

To you and all the other actors and actresses, to the crew and all the people that make it possible.

In Japan and waiting until August for those last three episodes of "Lost" (Hulu doesn't work here). Thanks again for all your hard work and not spoilering even though I couldn't help but check out what was new on your blog. Hope to see you on the television (or movie) screen again soon!

Amazing finale last night! It was nothing short of perfect. Thanks for 6 great years Jorge! I will miss LOST, but like everything in life, there's a time to move on, and I guess now is that time. Here's a link to an OCEANIC 815 Playlist I compiled. Check it out if you've got the time. Cheers,

So sad. That it is over, that is. I will miss seeing you and the rest of the Oceanic survivors every week. I feel a little lost, myself. Deep ending, if people choose to delve into it. I was disappointed but I can't tell if it is because I'm sad that it's all ending. Death of anything is never "happy". Sure hope to see you moving on to something new... and I hope this blog continues. Have a great day!

You have consistently been my favorite part of LOST over the years. And reading your blog has been a real pleasure. You are this cool famous dude from LOST, yet you manage to be so down to Earth and laid back about the whole thing. I hope, really, really hope that you will be back on the TV in another great show really soon. In the meantime, just enjoy being awesome! Thanks for the memories. Adam

Great job on the finale! Loved it :)

Nightngle said...

I loved the ending! I had told my boyfriend that I thought Hurley should be the island's protector, because Hurley cared about the people and how things are done, not just the "ends justifying the means". I love that not all the loose ends were tied up - I did not want a forensic/scientific analysis as a last episode. The world and time and our place in it isn't completely knowable, so why should the islands' universe be set in stone?

Kudos to you and Michael Emerson especially, but everyone did a fantastic job! I'm still tearing up over the ending and it's place in the whole series. Loved, loved, loved it!

LinGin said...

Had no TV last night and had to wait for "Lost" online this morning. I loved the finale (and ABC allowed the last hour to be run without any commercial interruption on the web). I always thought Hugo made the most sense as the Island's protector and was so happy that he was chosen. Hugo's fear and apprehension was so real and yet his compassion in reaching out to Ben to be his valued assistant bore out how correct the choice was.

It was a wonderful (if sometimes maddening journey) and I'm sorry to see it end. (But I predict a Star Trek-like life in other media for years to come.) Thanks to all for the long, strange trip, and thanks, Jorge, for the mensch that Hurley was (is) and this joyful blog.

Hope to see you in more work in this life, brutha.

It. Was. Fabulous. I'm so sad that it's over though.

I know you will be bombarded with comments after last night's finale so I'll TRY to be brief (cause we'd all love to know you read all the comments!).

1. It was P E R F E C T. Like eating the most satisfying Thanksgiving dinner and walking away from the table feeling neither hungry, nor so full you feel like you will bust, but completely, totally, satiated.

2. I really felt you (above all others) showed more depth in your portrayal of the on-island Hurley (more trepidatious, mostly a follower) vs. the off-island Hurley (confident and in control - most notable in "The Substitue").

Thank you again for sharing with us. Can't wait for the podcast!

Dude you look really sad ! Stay positive man !

Dude. I had a hard time sleeping last night after the finale. I can't imagine how you feel. What a ride.

First of all, I'm really happy. As much as I love Jack as a character, I didn't want him to be the new Jacob, and Hurley being it, was amazing. Best finale of a show ever. I cried, I laughed, I got extremely nervous and in the end I went to bed with a smile. So thank you for 6 years of wonderful episodes and for such a great finale. And also, please! even if you're not in the island anymore, keep writing! we love your blog and your stories and your bread making!

You make us smile

Jorge, thanks for an incredible six years of your life. You/Hurley were my very favorite part of the show. From the first time I saw Hurley on the show, I wondered why he was there when he wasn't someone with a questionable past. Then I just figured comic relief. But to take the numero uno spot, that was rewarding to me as a fan. And I know "you don't writes 'em, you just does 'em". But thanks dude!

I stayed up until 6 am watching 2 hour recap, lost finale and of course Kimmel. Totally worth it! Heres my little take on the last 15 minutes if you have the time to read it ;)

i dont think its heaven, or purgatory. they're just the words I'm using because i dunno what else to call em. but that light in the church was the same as the islands, i think they're now part of the island.
they're what gives it its power, the people who have died protecting it
they just needed to all be together and remember again before they could let go and be absorbed... if you get me? the glowing cave is like a river of souls, holding back the darkness. Think of it as the lifestream in Final Fantasy VII

I hope that Jimmy didn't spoil my alternate ending!

Scene opens.

Hurley is sleeping in a comfy bed, a fan slowly turning above him. A golf cart creeps across The Island, slowly moving towards Hurley's hut. It stops.

A man with white shoes walks to the door, walks through it, and stands menacingly over Hurley's bed.

He whispers, "Mr. Hurley, it is time. It is THE time."

Hurley awakens, startled. "WHO ARE YOU?!? WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH ME?!?!"

"Be calm Mr. Hurley, you've just been having a bad dream."

"Yeah, Boss, he ate too many Oceanic candy bars on de plane on the de flight here." Tattoo says as he jumps onto the bedside chair. "That would geev anyone bad dreams!"

Mr. Roarke laughs. Tattoo laughs.

"Mr. Hurley, it is now the time to discuss your fantasy. Your wish."

"And by the way, WELCOME TO FANTASY ISLAND."

End of series.

Thanks for the memories, Jorge!

Thank you for, all the moments, the sad, the funny, the bizarre ones, for the what-the- moments, for every moment, and most important, for the hours of entertainment, because i enjoyed your work for letting me feeling like one more "lostie".

"Gracias, muchas gracias, Jorge", in spanish, i hope i'll see you in other t.v. shows, or in cinema, good luck, and take care.

Unknown said...

dude, the series finale was epic. it was bittersweet, but you were pitch perfect.

Anonymous said...

I LOVED the finale. It was an absolutely perfect way to wrap up the most amazing television series ever made. (Although, I admit to secretly hoping the big 'twist' at the end was that we'd find out that it wasn't really going to end after all.) Still, if it *had* to end, it ended better than I could have imagined.

I will miss it terribly. Great work, Jorge! And thank you for sharing your experience with us through this blog.

Jorge, I hope that we get many more chances to see your onscreen talents! Hurley was hands-down,one of my favorites, and I'm so excited that his final appearance was this awesome combination of tugging at our heartstrings, making us laugh in true Hurley star-wars-reference fashion :),and taking charge to make sure everyone was taken care of again. Going to miss that dude!! Hurley rocks because the guy behind him is one fantastic actor! Best of luck on your next set of adventures!

*Spoilers!*

I liked the fact that Hurley became the protector of the Island in the end, yet I wish we got to see what happened while he was.

I'm annoyed that the origin of the island was never really explained though! I still have questions! Ah, well.

You did a great job in the part of Hurley. Here's hoping you're on TV again soon!

I have never been so invested in a show in my life as I have been in LOST. I am so sad it's over! I loved seeing the progression of Hurley- you were superb. I hope you find something equally challenging and entertaining for your next gig. Thanks for the blog and the peek into life behind the scenes on the island!

Kinda sad to see Lost end-but I liked the ending. For each of us, heaven is a longing for something. When you lose someone you love, like I lost my little boy, heaven becomes a face that you just have to see again. I have to feel his arms around my neck and smell his air and hug him tight. That's heaven. And for the folks on the island, they each got their "heaven" in that reunion in the church. I don't think there will ever be a show as awesome and moving as LOST.

Lindsey said...

Oh Jorge. I'm still reeling from last night. LOVED it. The reunion scenes were great. Thanks for an amazing 6 years. Your character never faltered the entire show--hilarious, loving, thoughtful. LOST will be my generation's version of M.A.S.H. or other epic series (although it will retain the distinction of not dying a lame, shark-jumped death!). YEAH!

Angela Rynan Durrell said...

Kind of thought Hurley was going to end up with the top job. Especially last week when he said, "I'm just glad it's not me..." Foreshadowing, anyone? That was like the gong of portent.

Loved the finale. When Hurley saw Charlie in alt-world, I was grinning right along with him. And I laughed out loud when he tranqued the poor sap.

Wish you could have been at the Kimmel show, Jorge. But it was fun seeing you guys do the Sopranos takeoff. :)

Please keep writing the blog; we're all interested in keeping up with you. We're all gonna miss Hugo, but I for one am looking forward to enjoying what you do next.

I will miss you Jorge!!! I really enjoyed the episode last night and found myself crying more than I'd like to admit. However, I have to say, now that I've had some time to reflect and digest it...I love it even more. I feel like so many people were so anxiously waiting to have answers spoon fed to them that they forgot what made them love the show in the first place: It makes you THINK. And talk about it. I have 2 friends that I always talk to the day after a new episode to discuss and I have to say that I am absolutely closer to them than I was before we started our Lost conversations. Thank you for an amazing 6 years!!

Love you so much, Jorge. I was so happy to see Hurley become the #1. "Do what you do best. Take care of people," got the biggest smile on my face. Hurley has been a favorite of mine from day one (well, tied with Charlie, those two kinda went hand in hand for awhile), and I was so happy to see it end with him being so major, instead of just being the comic relief. You looked so adorable and happy in the retrospective too, and I loved the scene of you walking out of the church and asking Ben to come on in, and saying how great of a number two he'd been.

Thank you for my favorite thing of the past six years. I want to see you again soon.

Hurley was my favorite. Thank you.

A Woman of No Importance said...

Hurley was my favorite character on LOST from Day 1. Totally easy to understand what Libby saw in Hurley.

And I hope it does not sound creepy, but as I read more about you from your blog, listened to the Podcasts you did with your girlfriend, and watched your live appearances, I really became a fan of Jorge--not just Hurley.

I have commented to my boyfriend that it is going to be strange if you ever play a bad guy in a movie or show, though I am sure you are such a good actor the bad guy will be entirely believable!

Are you anything like Hurley in real life? I'm sure you aren't a lottery winner with a numbers fixation, but Hurley's desire to make others happy seems to mesh with the way you come across on your blog and elsewhere.

Anyway, I really hope you line something else up soon because you are a very enjoyable and talented performer (and a good singer!). Good luck to you and your girlfriend, and I hope we all get to see you soon! Please keep updating your blog so we know what you are up to.

Just read the *Thanks for Watching* and want you to know that there is no thanks needed. LOST has brought me so many fun experiences; I don't know if the actors in the show will ever understand how much they touched their audience. I found myself thinking about how my life has changed in these past 6 years, something I have never done at the end of any other show, and I realized it was because your show became an important part of my life. Important enough to cause retrospect and introspect. So thank you-thank all of you. I will miss the show greatly and wish you all only the best.

Mahalo to all of you for such a wonderful show! Lost=Best TV Show Ever! I loved "The End" but hated that it had to end. I moved from Oahu (worked at Kailua Intermediate) Summer 2004. So, Lost became a reminder of 'home' for me as the show started to air just after I moved away. I'll miss the show and my Lost Family as I miss my home.

Just watched the end of the show and it made me so emotional... I loved it. I'll miss all of you. It's the end of something...
And I guess it's a big deal for you, I mean you all have lived in Hawaii, I imagine pretty much together or near each other, like a big family (these are my thoughts from what I heard from you all in interviews) and now you have to say goodbye... it's sad. Ok, sorry... I'm beeing a (little) nosey :) I just wanted to tell you that you are great and thank you.

You were awesome! You made us cry. You are a very gifted actor.

We loved that Hugo ended up taking care of the island. It made so much sense. My daughter and I agreed -- we'd love to live on an island run by Hugo and Ben. :D

Looking forward to whatever adventures next await you!

OH MY GAWSH!!!! You totally got to be Charlie!!!!! You got the twirly flying elevator prize ~slash~ Chocolate Factory:D I knew Hurly would be the one to protect everyone. And I loved your hair this entire episode. Your acting was awesome!!!! And you had ALL the best lines.....It would be hard to make this ending any better, BUUUT if ya'll could go and film an alternate ending a la Grease ("We go together") with Doc and Freckles flying above the island in a plane car. Then I could finally die happy and "Move on". Good luck with your future, and keep supporting that sweet girl of yours in her writing. She is very talented. Can't wait for her book!!!!

Unknown said...

Congratulations! That was an awesome finale! I haven't stopped thinking about it since it aired and the more time passes, the happier I am with how it ended. The only thing is, I would have loved to see Hurley in charge of the island! You all should probably make some movies like SATC. Thanks for a great six years!!!

Pamela said...

Jorge....I am so happy I got so much done pre-finale, because today I've done nothing but reflect on the show. I can't believe some people are complaining about answers...I've watched since day one and I wasn't worried about getting answers, only about how much I will miss Hurley and LOST. I think the end was perfect and beautiful and I still can't stop thinking about it and how my beloved Hugo ended up reigning supreme :) I believe with all my heart that if another actor (God forbid) had played Hurley all these years...he wouldn't have been as humble, sweet and loveable as you made him...and I feel like in real life you are just like Hurley...well except for the cursed thing ;) I have never met you, but it feels like I just lost a dear friend. ((((BIG HUGS)))) No wonder it was so hard to keep that #1 secret when all the talk show hosts were asking you for hints...you were/are WONDERFUL!!!

From reviewer Alan Sepinwall:

"I cannot say enough good things about Jorge Garcia in that scene where Jack annoints Hurley. Hurley has believed in Jack as the leader from day one, and at the same time doesn't see himself as anything but the follower and the comic relief. Garcia was fantastic at showing Hurley's distress and disbelief at Jack going on a suicide mission and leaving him with this awesome responsibility."

Good going, dude.

What LOST meant to me:

When i started watching LOST I was 19 years old and was going trough my second year of Bachelor degree. At that point in my life I was a little LOST, I didn't feel like I fit anywhere even tough I had many friends which I adore and I love, I still felt like I was missing something. In that moment of self discovery and awareness I was switching through the channels trying to fill the void of my constant boredom and there was LOST the show that filled me with such intrigue that made me want to know better about the things that were spoken about in the show. It opened me to so many things and authors, and books. It made me explore more genres, and other Tv shows, It made me make connections to other people that also watched the show. at first it felt like a small group of people watched it and only those understood it, in that way, it made me feel "special". ( it is obvious it was a success and many people watched it, it just felt like an insider thing for that Season 1)

That's how LOST made me feel. It was something that made people connect to each other to discuss it, it made us go through self discovery and it made us want to know more about everything(subjects explored on the show, books, etc) just so we could be more involved with the writer's minds.

To me LOST was more than an experience it was a lesson of life, love, companionship, friendship, and how really good storytelling is done.

now, I'm finishing my second year of Law School. After 6 years, soon I'll turn 25, and I've been through so many changes myself as much as the characters on the island, that I feel that I grew with the show. It will always stick with me because LOST was a part of everything that happened to me in 6 years of my life, and those years were important because those were my biggest transition years, LOST was always there to comfort me, to soothe my mind when it was troubled, it was always there for blowing steam, for escaping...it was my constant.

and that's what LOST meant to me. I watch couple of other shows and none of them even compares to what LOST has been. LOST made an impact in my life, helped me grow, and made me appreciate the good things in life.

So, Jorge Garcia, and the people of LOST, I am deeply grateful for these last 6 years, it was a ride. I hope you find other awesome jobs because you are a truly great actor to watch! NAMASTE! :D

Thank you so much, Jorge, for bringing the character of Hurley to us and for sharing your journey via this blog. I think I have only posted once before, but had to come back and say thank you and Goodbye to Hurley. The End was just so emotional and I have watched it twice now... made me cry both times. It definitely makes one think. LOST has been a part of my life since the beginning. An EPIC show that can never be duplicated. Not only did we gain the experience of the SHOW itself, but the community of fans that came together from all over the world in various forums - long lasting friendships! I have to thank you and your fellow actors for bringing such an experience to life, to Damon and Carlton and JJ for the brilliant writing and concept. Truly unique. I will miss LOST... but it has given me much to think about. I wish you good fortune in all that you do from here... and I hope you will keep up your blog. It has been a joy to read.

Best wishes and au revoir,

Hola Jorge,
Sorry because this comments is in spanish, I wouldn't know how to express this in english.
