Even Greener

Someone sent me these reusable produce bags.
Not grocery bags. These are the bags you put your fruit and vegetables in.
I like that they are made out of a mesh so that the gasses can escape.
Who knew fruits and vegetables were so gassy? (Well, broccoli maybe.)
I'm going to give them a try as soon as I can remember to put them in the car with the other bags.
I mean look how happy those veggies look.

  1. What a great idea!! My husband hates it when I get just like 1 tomato and don't put it in a bag. Like it would get lost or something?)I would buy these if they had them at my local store. You should try them, and if you like them have them add "Approved by Jorge!" in a little starburst with you giving a thumbs up. ;) You could save the planet one produce bag at a time!

  3. These vegetables perplex me. I can read the expression on the tomato easily enough: Happy. But the broccoli? The carrot?

  4. Jorge,

On a dare try eating a plate full of broccoli and a big glass of chocolate milk. The result isn't pretty!

    P.S. I hate broccoli!

  5. The faces on the veggies remind me of Veggie Tales!

  6. The carrot doesn't look too happy, actually. He looks sort of... frightened.

  7. I've tried these. They keep your vegs/fruits looking fresh but not exactly tasting so fresh. They do help keep the bananas from riping too quickly

  8. Love it! I always feel bad using those plastic bags for veggies but my germphobia gets the best of me. Those look like a good alternative.

  9. The veggies look so happy because they can be gassy and no one will care.

  10. Wow! Those are great! I never use the plastic bags at the store but I am afraid the check-out person secretly hates me for having to pick up each piece of produce individually and keep them from rolling away. These could keep me happy, the check-out person happy and not be wasteful. Thanks for sharing!

  11. Um....I think the broccoli just "gassed" his friends. The carrot was the first to notice.

  12. Cool gotta get me some of those. No more plastic!

  13. Those are actually a really great idea. KB and I should get some of those.

  14. I have those too. If everyone would use them, think of all the plastic that would stay out of the landfill.
PS I also buy canvas bags at Goodwill and so no to paper and plastic at the grocery store.

  15. Thank you from
    Washable Produce Bags!!
We are now in Northern California Whole Foods Market and soon to be in Pacific North West Whole Foods Market. Ask for these Washable Produce Bags in your local stores.
If they don't have them tell them to get them. For now you can order them from our website at www.washableproducebags.com
Thanks for all the great comments. I made the characters myself out of cut paper. They actually have names and personalities too. The carrot is a seed salesman named Ct. The tomato's name is DeVine. She is a lady of the night. The broccoli's name is Broc. He is a base player and a scholer.
My name is Cindi and I appreciate all your great comments. They made me laugh.
    (no more plastic bags)

  16. These bags are so easy... They make you feel really good when they're sliding them across the checkout counter too! They weigh the same as the plastic ones too.

  17. That carrot looks a bit like a wise-guy, but they do look quite happy!

  18. Broc is a bass player not a base player.

  25. You can beat slugs with a cedar chip moat. It takes a day of hard work with a wheelbarrow but it really thwarts those slimy jerks. I did one around a greenhouse that was 2ft wide x 6-10 inches deep. Then you can put out beer traps for the ones already inside, or pick them off into a soapy bucket.

This article gives details about chip barriers and a bunch of methods; I like the moat best because you don't have to protect each plant individually. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/155910/how_to_control_garden_slugs_and_snails_pg2.html?cat=32
