Fabulous! We Broke a Thousand!

Wow. My followers number has just passed a thousand.
Thanks everybody.

To celebrate here's a picture of my friend's dog Mr. Fabulous.
(Don't let the name fool you, Fab is a girl dog.)
Here she is doing that trick where you humiliate the dog by placing food on their face before they're allowed to eat it.

The saddest part however is in the next moment, Fab is going to discover that she does not like pickles.

  1. Awww how disappointing for poor Mr. Fabulous! hehehe

    Congrats on all your followers!

  2. Congratulations on breaking a thousand, Jorge. FWIW, I have been following your blog for a long time now - about a year and a half I think, but am not a "registered" follower.

Maybe if all the people out there like me registered as followers you'd double your followers again.

    : ) P

  3. I did it! I am now officially following your blog! For those who are interested, but don't know how, you can click on the tiny button at the top of the page, just above the "from the" of the title "Dispatches from the Island" on the home page.

  4. Congratulations. I don't officially follow you, but I do check your blog very frequently. Just think how many lurkers you probably have. Love the blog. It is so random and funny, and it's my kind of humor.

Also love LOST, btw. It's the only show I really follow. Great characters, great storyline, great musical score.

Aaaaand, on the off chance that someone who is reading this has a friend or relative with spina bifida, I'd love to have you check out the lifestyle accelerator spina bifida community forum.
    http://www.lifestyleaccelerator.com/forum/
Hope that's ok to say on here. If not, I'll edit it. I am the mother of a child with spina bifida, and just thought I'd raise awareness! You do have over 1000 followers, you know. ;)

  7. I should get a special merit for having been reading your blogs since the beginning.

And also for having controlled my masturbation urges when photos of you pop up on here.

  8. Congratulations! Your blog is really funny and I've recommended it to several people. I think you should have some sort of celebration involving beer!

  9. Congrats on a Thou! I don't know if that means anything specific in bloggerland but other than a stat #, it's pretty awesome having made the connection w/ so many ppl who enjoy your observation of life's moments. I don't follow many blogs, but I can say that reading yours has enriched my life with humor, travel, family, growing veggies, appreciating the simple treasures in life that often times go unnoticed - all unique and noteworthy. Just like you :o) So glad I found your blog, I laugh and share it with friends and family and that is paying it forward my friend! THANK YOU FOR SHARING! You are a peach!

  10. Your my hero. I strive to reach 100!
Congrats-well deserved, you put alot into your blog and 1000 is a very deserving #.

  11. Yes, but how many of those "followers" get a little more joy out of life by leaving you a comment? I love your blog posts because #1, they're short, and #2, they're sweet, and #3 they make me smile.

  12. Congrats on the 1000 followers! (I have been reading your blog ever since you moved over from MySpace but just recently actually signed up)

  17. You may have 1000 followers on blogger, but you also have 4880 people subscribed to your blog on Google Reader. I just subscribed last night. I am a big fan of LOST and happened upon your site when I did a search about Churros con Chocolate (I recently went to Madrid, and was going to write about it.) Looking forward to reading more on the blog.

  21. Congratulations, Jorge...hope you have many, many more followers to come. That dog looks a lot like mine, down to the look on her face when presented with food on her nose. My kids do that to Bear.

    Poor Mr. Fab...a pickle???

  24. Does Mr. Fabulous play the trumpet by any chance? Or work as a maitre d' at a fancy restaurant?

    ReplyDelete
  25. 402 of us sub scribe via Bloglines.
And 4880 are subscribed via Google.

So that's 6282 subscribers. Not counting all of the other blog readers. :)

  26. The dog also appears to be wearing some sort of muzzle. How does he catch food wearing a muzzle?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Congrats Jorge! You got us looking from LOST and kept us by being awesome....that simple.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think there are lots of people like me, who follow your blog regularly, but never write anything. I've been reading your blog for more than a year now, and this is the first time I write.
I love your blog. It's funny, sarcastic, intelligent. Congratulations!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I did kinda wonder about that muzzle thing too. Is she wearing one or does it just look like it? And I have been reading your blog for a few weeks now ever since I saw the "Ace of Cakes" ep and Googled it and found it that way. It and you are BRILLIANT! Now I am off to make myself an "official" follower...

    ReplyDelete
  30. Mr Fabulous is not alone in the gender wrong names, I had a neighbor with a female mastiff named Mr. Pants.

    ReplyDelete
  31. The dog is wearing a "Gentle Leader," also known as a head harness, which stops dogs from pulling on the leash. They don't prevent dogs from eating, barking, or biting.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Congrats! I'm one of your newer followers and find the blog to be one of the best I read. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  33. The saddest part however is in the next moment, Fab is going to discover that she does not like pickles

Well now that's just adding insult to injury... err, something like that. Poor Fab!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Does it sort of creep you out that you have so many followers? "Followers" sounds sort of weird and cult-like. I have one follower and I have no idea why.

  38. Congrats, Jorge.. Yours is my favorite blog because it's just so random and unfiltered. Thanks for showing us the world through your eyes.

That doggie's going to have a sour puss right after that! Hey, at least it wasn't a habernero pepper or something.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Congrats on the followers! One of the reasons could be a Yahoo Group I belong to that sent the link for your Blog :) It is a Comedy/Drama TV group that discusses different shows and has updates/newsfeeds etc. So I think that could have helped :)

  41. OK, coming out of hiding and officially following your blog.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Why oh why do we do this to our pets? :sigh: I am sooo guilty of the peanut butter on the nose trick....now I have to try the pickle.

    ReplyDelete
  43. We tried that with our female cattle dog...she'd do anything for cheese (including jump straight up from sitting position--6'..we measured it) Anway, the boys taught her to balance a piece of cheese on her nose until they released her, then toss it in the air and catch it...she figure out if she ducked her chin, it fell off and no effort involved on her part. She never did that trick again...that breed is scary-smart.

  44. Hey, Jorge! "Look out, it's the Millenium Falcon" is officialy folowing you now! The only bad thing is that our blog isn't up yet! (No time) But check us out in a few and we'll even have some lost drawings up there!

  51. 1000 ? That's quite a few, but if only you started tweeting, this number would grow to hundreds of thousands (www.twitter.com).

You guys (the LOST crew) are huge on the internet, your twitter account would break any the record (of No of followers).

Best regards from a Polish fan!

  52. That is the best name for a dog - ever! Unless it was Mr. Pickle Arm, then it would be ridiculously cool. :)

(I hope you caught the Saturday Night Live reference or else I'm gonna sound like a complete idiot!) LOL

    ReplyDelete
  53. My dog would eat anything, anything, except olives. Hated olives. His favorite food ever? Bacon puffs, those fried bacon fat things, he absolutely loved them. His next favorite food was cheese curls.

Hey, I just started a new blog and I'd love for some of your thousand followers to take a look at it!!!

  69. Heh, I'm surprised she didn't notice the vinegar smell right away. Dogs tend not to like vinegar supposedly -- some suggest it as a sort of (harmless) pepper spray to use against dogs when walking. (Alas, it has not worked too well for me.) When my dog was offered olives, she would scrunch her nose up at them in the most hilarious way! XD

Aaaanyway, congrats on getting 1000 followers! :D
