Not for the Squamish

Okay apparently my last post grossed a few people out. All I can say is that that post was specifically directed to those who were in the pool. People who were in the pool would totally understand because they probably lost some skin too. That pool is rough and shallow.

Now if any of you decided to read it, you did so at your own risk. Sorry if I made you puke.

Here's a shot of me at Siwash Rock (Squamish legend is that this was an Indian warrior turned to stone).
And a picture of Shannon Falls in Squamish, BC. I highly recommend the restaurant across from it. And as you can see the view is pretty spectacular.

  1. Your last post was informative, but the picture was unavoidable! These pictures surely make up for it! Thanks!

  2. Vancouver is an incredible city. If you are still there and have time, try to get down to English Bay and tour Stanley Park.

Nearby, there is even a suspension bridge, if you want to re-enact a scene from LOST! LOL

If you plan to go to Vancouver Island (though you may have a thing about islands! *G*), and see Victoria, be sure to try some Rogers Chocolates. They are famous worldwide!

    Enjoy your vacation, Jorge!

    : ) P

  3. Well, you didn't exactly warn us about that post beforehand :-P

I agree with DP though, those pics are gorgeous. My mom's from western WA, near the BC border. I love the Northwest.

  5. Enjoying all of your posts SO much!!!

Hope your hand is better - looked like a nasty scrape.

We were on a long weekend trip to Kentucky (just back) and I was taking oodles of pictures. I had an overwhelming desire to take a picture of a cross walk signal. Totally your fault...

Thanks for sharing - Happy Trails!

  8. hey jorge,

the foto of the waterfall is really nice. i hope that i can make a journey to canada, especially to vancouver, sometimes. but the distance is so long from germany. i saw many fotos of this area and the nature there looks just amazing! and now everybody says that vancouver is an incredible city... i want to go there soo much. :(

Enjoy the rest of your vacation jorge.

PS: And by the way, if you plan to meet Evangeline (i think she celebrates her birthday at her parents, near to vancouver), tell her nice greetings and a "Happy Birthday" from me. i wrote her a letter a year ago, but til now nothing came back. :(

    Thomas :-)

  9. OMG that view IS spectacular. Great shot!

Hope your hand is feeling better. Don't worry, you didn't gross me out. The first thought I had was ouch. The second thought I actually had was..'I hope he put Neosporin on it so it doesn't get infected'.

  10. oooooo your in B.C.

  11. Something that's a little grosser than cutting up your hands in the pool is cutting up your hands while scuba diving 40 feet down! At that point, there's no red in the color spectrum, so your blood comes out looking all green and algae-like. Oh yeah. :-)

I have all sorts of scars on my hands from hitting the bottom of the pool. All I can say is, glad it was the hands and not the head.

    Blog on!

  12. It takes a lot to make me puke. I studied biology in university. A person tends to need a strong stomach for that. One think that will make me gag is phlegm. I once considered becoming a doctor but when I considered how much phlegm.. and sick people in general.. totally grosses me out, I decided medicine probably wasn't the direction I should go.

When are you coming to Nova Scotia for a tour? Every Canadian (except those who live in BC) knows the East coast is the best coast.

  13. Wow that is sooo gorgeous!!! I want to travel so bad. :sigh:

From your last post...no puking here. I am a mother of three. I have seen things that would make grown men cry!!! So no I wasnt grossed out.

  14. The post before had a picture of a "leather jacket" and people were squimish about a scrapped knuckle? Seriously?

  16. Jorge,

Yes indeed BC is a beautiful. Unfortunately you have an economy based on resources which is going to tank very quickly. If you had waited a year you might have been able to go for 1/2 price.

  17. Yay! I hope you enjoy it here! I love the area around Squamish; I used to go to summer camp 20kms past it. You should totally hit up all the tourist-y places, like the art gallery (hehe, it's call the VAG), the aquarium, the beaches, the gay pride parade coming up on Sunday, and the last night of the fireworks on Saturday! I hope you have a blast and have a ton of great memories!

  18. Read at your own risk. Swim at your own risk. Eat at your own risk. Remove your shoes at your own risk!

Are you signing any waivers on this journey?

I had a "skin knuckle sandwich" at the Shack other day. I see where they got the name!! Found your knuckle!

  19. I agree with Redelf - as a mother of three also - I have seen gross things that would make grown men cry! So, your ripped skin is tame...great picture of the view from that restaurant. Keep the Canada pictures coming!

  20. The skin chunk post actually grossed me out significantly less than the "leather jacket" post. I'm really not a fan of mummies, bogmen (except the band), and other such over-aged individuals. But thanks for all the updates!

  21. Yes, petra, I'm sure that a star of a TV show that is so popular that no-one shuts up about would absolutely LOVE to re-enact a scene from that very show when they are on holiday trying to get away from it all.

  24. What?!
Seriously man - I LIVE in Squamish BC.
I was camping at Klahanie from the 22-24 with a giant group of kids (they love all the time traveling bunnies there).

It would have been so awesome to see you!

Clearly you made it out of the area before the rockslide...

  26. Yay for beautiful BC! Of course I'm biased because I live in BC.

I'm guessing you made it out before the rockslide, huh? You're lucky, it's been crazy.
