Blog to Blog?

Ok. My last post was October 1st. So it's been more than ten days. I've come across a dilemma: Do I blog just to blog? Or do I wait until I get inspired to say something?

Like this blog right now is ridiculous, I'm basically asking what you want. But I'm pretty sure there will be people weighing in on both sides. So forget it. I should just delete this blog right now. I won't though.

I am sorry for wasting your time right now. If you're at work, please don't get in trouble on my account. Not for this.

There are things I would like to write about. But those things are either too private to blog about right now (Grandpa just got put in a home - don't really want to talk about it), or could get me in trouble if someone (i.e. my mom) were to read them. Of course there is always the chance that I say "screw it (I was going to say f*** it but stopped myself) if it's personal, it's good material. "

So......

I have no conclusion. (Again I just wasted a small fraction of your life for some! A slightly bigger fraction for others depending on your reading level.)

But eventually I should come up with something.

  1. Ahh don't worry about wasting my life. You have to have a life to waste first, which I don't have...excuse me I think I am going to go cry in a corner now....hehe j/k :)

  3. Itś really funny to me, reading your posts, you can write about everything what you did yesterday:) , or about your childhood, you can write whater you want, I visit this blog everyday and I think that many people do too.

  4. Well, I wait until I get inspired to say something... But I would prefer for you to blog just to blog! Your fans don't care what you blog about - we're just thrilled to be reading whatever it is you decide to share with us!

Mahalo for taking the time to blog for us!

  5. Don't worry about Spanish people. It's 10 a.m., i've just waken up and it's no waste of time reading those kinds of blogs while taking breakfast.

Almost useful, should I say. Thanks to them i don't fall slept on my keyboard.

  6. For what it's worth (not much!), it's your blog and therefore you can say what you like when you like. If you feel like updating one sentence about an amusing leaf you saw then that's great. If you feel like giving a little philosophy on life that has been on your mind on the other hand, great too. However, I guess it's you that has to think about whether you want to say anything personal here because lots of people could be reading it. I guess you can share anything that you don't mind who might read about it. I'm sorry about your Grandpa *hug* and best wishes to him and your family. And as for here, I'm sure you'll figure out what you want to say :).

  7. It's not about what you say, but how you say it. Right now your concerns about wasting time - ours and your own - bind remarkably well with your concerns about your grandpa, whether you intended it or not. On a seemingly seinfeldian note, you ended up posting about the value and meaning of time - and that's as interesting as it gets. Best wishes to you and your family.

its never a waste of time dude, to me its just nice a lost star thinks of the fans enough to write a blog.

  9. You don't have to tell us anything really profound. Remember - just after Leonardo Da Vinci painted himself in drag, he said "This is ridiculous! I should toss this immediately!" But, he didn't and now we have the Mona Lisa! See! :D

  10. Don't worry, I never waste my time when I read your blog! I am always happy to read what you have written, whatever I don't understand all the text (yeah my english isn't fluently...), but I am always happy to know that there is that link between you and us, your fans, and I think it's really kind of you to share a little bit of your mind or life with us. And I thank you for that!

Lost makes me find my way, and I don't forget it ;)

    Bye, hope to see ya!

  14. No Worries - write what you want to when you feel up to it. Trust me - we'll come back to read it.

And I'm sorry about your Grandpa. I know that must be difficult for you & your family.

THANK you for the "groovy picture" you sent. It was the most fun piece of mail I've gotten in YEARS!!

  15. Jorge,

Sorry about your grandfather's situation. My mom had to go to a nursing home last year. It's been rough, but we just have to roll with the punches sometimes.

    *big hugs*

  16. I think I understand what do you feel about blogging, it happens to me too. I want to write a nice comment about, but I don't know what. But there's something with you that I can read whatever you write, it doesn't matter what it is, you know the way to make it interesting, funny, and enjoyable, and really means a lot to me you takeing time to post in a blog for your fans. I think you should write a book, whatever theme you pick you'll make it good (at least I'll buy it).

I really sorry about your grandpa, I'm not going into details, but I really know what are you going through right know.

    Cheer Up, and good luck

  17. Totally depends on what you want--this should be fun for you, not a chore. Right now, I don't think your blog is ridiculous at all-light hearted and funny-but not ridiculous. However--that's the thing, it's YOUR blog. Don't let it become a pain in the ass for you, 'cause you know what? People are going to come read and support you no matter what you do! Write whatever you want, when you want.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Oh Jorge, don't worry! I agree with everyone here so far, your take on life is fun to see, and your sense of humor is uplifting to us. So making people laugh or smile the way that you can is a blessing and a gift that you have.

It's understandable to think the things that you wrote in this post. And I also agree that if it's a chore to do and not fun for you, don't continue. But just keep in mind that we enjoy your way with words, and your posts are very fun to read. There aren't any rules in Blogland, so whenever you feel like talking about the rain soaking your undies or the craft services goodies is enough for us.

Your family and Grandpa are in our prayers. XO

  19. dude, that was most certainly not a waste of time.

it can be a little of both when it comes to blogging, just do it when you feel like it.

  20. Jorge, you rock brother.
The fact that you even ASKED this question proves you are a sweet and kind-hearted soul.
Write what you want WHEN you want. Thats the whole point of a blog.

    Namaste, man.

    No worries.

  21. Well I was going to leave you a witty cartoon, but the blog site wouldn't let me. I'll just tell you it was very funny.

Sometimes it's nice to just write s--t, it helps. Hope things are going well for you. Go have a drink. =)

  22. Hey, man, you are blogging for you, don't worry about the rest of us...and I don't think your posts are a waste of time anyhow.

About the private stuff, yeah, I have that issue too. There's 2 ways to handle it--keep that stuff in an *offline* journal or create an entirely NEW blog elsewhere using a fake name and give all the people you want to write about fake names. I've done both. I mean, sometimes you just got to write about what's going on inside and so that's the best way I found to deal with it. :)

    Have a great weekend!

  23. Yeah, I meant to add, I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather...it's so hard when the people we love get sick and health starts failing :(

  25. I think you could blog about what you have for breakfast everyday and your fans would be happy. You're lucky that way...people love you know matter what. :)

  27. You're adorable.

    Sorry about your grandfather. :(

I never manage to blog daily; in fact, sometimes, I'm lucky to make one blog post in a week. And when I do blog, it's usually about whatever is on my mind at that moment. Sometimes it's personal and of a serious nature, other times it's stupid b.s. that I feel like spewing. Hell, some of my posts consist solely of a YouTube video or a single photo.

Do you what feels best to you. You don't owe anyone anything -- this is your blog, and as such, you should do with it what you want. Blog a lot, blog a little; blog about your day or blog about nothing at all. Whatever. It's all you. :)

Just let us know you're alive once in awhile.

  28. By the way - I loved THIS post, because it was so genuine. You're such a real dude, and this is what makes you so interesting to those of us reading it. You don't have to be fascinating all the time (none of us are), or regale us with stories of your life as a celebrity. The more authentic you are in your entries, the more freedom you have to just be some guy who blogs -- just like us. :)

a blog is a little place for our toughts, so you can write whatever you want...
and I thank you for every bit of life you share with us!

  31. "I visit this blog everyday and I think that many people do too."

sorry, but that's a waste of a life. If you're that obsessed, use a rss service or whatever, like google reader that tells you when there's a new post. stop wasting time hoping & checking for new posts every day.

anyway, Jorge, my 2 cents are don't post things that will get you in trouble, but post whatever & whenever you feel like it. Most of the stuff I post is crap. I don't worry about who will or won't be reading it. If I'm thinking about something, no matter how random or lame it seems, I don't care, I post it anyway. Seeing as though you're famous, you may want to use a bit more discretion to help keep your life a bit more private/sane, but for the most part, just post when & what you want, & don't worry about it.

  32. How about posting what it's like to be an actor. . details about the craft, how you work it, etc. I find that choice of career fascinating and ballsy (sp?)

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm one of those who visits your blog daily. Think about this: If I didn't have time to read your blog I wouldn't. Okay?! I like the fact that a big TV star does normal things - thinks normal things. I never consider that reading your blog - even when you have nothing "important" to say - is a waste of time. Keep blogging, even if it's only every ten days!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Sounds like somebody needs a hug. We're here because we care. Your talent on LOST has touched us. If the blog has become an issue for you, don't worry about it. You should stop. If you're concerned about us, again, don't worry about it. We'll enjoy whatever you have to say. Take care, Jorge.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Keep blogging away, Jorge! We just like being connected to you (and LOST). It's great fun for us to make this connection to you and see that you're just a regular guy that comments on ordinary things.

We even may have things in common with you. We are putting my father-in-law into a nursing home this week, too! Sorry about your Grandpa.

Say whatever you want or pops into your head...we keep coming back for more!

  36. lol...if I am sitting here reading this then I am already sitting around wasting time ;-) so actually, it gave me something to read while I am wasting time lol!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I do both things.
Blog to blog and blog when inspired!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Jorge,

I say only blog when you have something to say. Otherwise, you could do a short check-in (like "still here; not much to say, though").

    I enjoy reading your blog!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. eh! sometimes the inspiration is there... sometimes it isn't.

luckily here in hawaii there's always something going on to talk about. it's great! as busy as you are, dear.. you still manage to crack us all up.

    take your time!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hon, I never get tired of reading your blogs and you never waste my time.

Having said that, if you don't have time or just don't feel like it, don't feel as though you must for our sake. We know you are busy.

By the way, I know how you feel about your grandfather~~~it happened to me. I have a good ear and am relatively a stranger and you have my email. I'd never disrespect your privacy. I really don't mean to sound too assuming, either. I have just been through that though and I'd bet you are not only worried about yourself but your Mom. too (is this your Mom's dad?)

Hugs to you and warm thoughts going your way.

  41. Mr. G, are you literally asking us what we'd like to see you write and are you reading the responses we put down? That's a very ACTORLY way of looking at things, performing, literally, for an audience based on their expectations rather than your own.

Your honesty, as always is both refreshing and disarming. Refreshing in the sense that your characters always have rays of positivity shining through clouds and that permeates your work, both fictional and non. Disarming because if there's one thing I know about aged child actors, it's that they rely too much on positive feedback rather than internal feedback. Find your inner passion for writing before you wonder what the Lost producers, your parents and your audience think.

So, back to your original question. If there's one thing I'd kill to read about it would be an almost daily blog detailing funny stories happening on the Lost set. I do NOT mean anything that would reveal the plot of Lost, what I mean is... Pranks the crew play on each other, what's on the Craft Services table, bugs on Police Beach... really all of your posts that talk about your funny interpretations of the making of Lost are such comedy gold that I think, and I'm serious, you should write a one-man-monologue about the filming of the show because people want to know, you've got stand-up experience, and some third party writer is going to do it after the fact unless a cast member beats them to it.

And this blog could be a good way to try out material.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I haven't been here in awhile, I just check every now and then. I love your honesty. It doesn't matter what you write, or when you write, I like knowing I'm actually hearing from the one and only Jorge Garcia. I love you and your great acting. You should only write what you feel like saying. Mahalo, give everyone a hug for us!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Jorge, you have to write your blog for yourself. Write as often or little as you want. Sometimes I blog daily, other times I can go 3 weeks! My parents in Australia check the blog daily hoping to see something new, but I write only when I have something worth telling everyone. The only difference between you and me is that you have much larger site traffic! But don't worry - just write what you want to put out there for others to know about you, write because it can be cathartic but whatever the case, just keep writing - because as our world keeps growing more spread apart and technology helps us interact with each other less, personal communication is going to be a dying art and blogging might just help us keep understanding and enjoying each other's personalities and not lose the human touch for a lot longer to come!

What a touchy-feely post but I feel very touchy-feely today.
    -Bianca.

  44. I say blog to blog. As long as you enjoy it. The Mancoon thing was hilarious. Maybe because I'd never heard of one [possibly because we don't have them in Toronto?], but that's exactly what came to mind.

Throw in something personal when you feel like it, or don't. Just as long as you're having fun with it, is all.

    Later dude.
