Can you get 'Ratak' down there? The stuff is amazing. Farmers use it. You can buy the waterproof little blocks and they don't need water before they begin to dry up. Prevents smell too.

Oh ewwwww....you guys needs a cat! Maybe two. Or three. Yeah, that's the ticket--four. I'm sure Nunu would like four or five feline friends. We don't got no stinkin rats here, we gots six cats.

just to let you know, "the rat on the bed, the rat over there" refers to a toy rat that jorge had placed around the house throughout the day trying to scare me.

I am following your rat incident with great interest (and a little amusement I have to admit). But I am right there with Beth standing on the furniture and screaming. Once one of my cats brought a live lizard into the house and I screamed so much that my neighbor rushed over thinking I was being murdered. I hope the rat is gone now and peace has been restored!

In fairness, it is a good bit cuter than the average rat... nicer ears, for one thing.

Speaking of cute, it's nice to get a good look at the very lovely Beth! Well done, Jorge.

I'm LOVING your blog, which I only just discovered the other day, thanks to Metafilter! Irishcoda's right, you guys need a cat, not just because of your rat problem but because CATS RAWK! I have 3 cats and 0 rats, so do the math... ;-)

Jorge!! You are being mean and cruel to sweet Beth! She's a brave soul, cuz I'd have my ass at a hotel until the exterminator took care of the problem!

You need a cat...or a pet mongoose. Living in Hawaii does have a bit of a price. So sorry, Miss Bethany. You deserve a little R & R especially since you are living with a man who gets his sadistic jollies out of your pain and trauma:)

I find the "Rat" series to be oddly compelling. Beth is great. But, may I suggest it would be easier to kill it if you put the camera down. :)

:-<> my God, how big is that little mouse! and we was scared about "the monster". But, please, don't try to kill him.
Do something, get him to Jacob, he knows what to do :-)

Live long and prosper \V/

I love that you're taunting her with the toy rat during all this. You guys are hysterical.

OK, when I first saw the rat, I thought "awww, it's just a cute little mouse." But then I saw the tail on it?! [shudder] Gross. You've gotta get rid of that thing. Eww.

Nunu seems to chew everything else. He won't chase this rat away? Is it even a rat? It looked sort of like a gerbil to me. He's kind of cute. Have you never seen An American Tale movies going up? Fivel Goes West?

"You are evil in your spirit" Always awesome to hear that. :P

What you need to do is clear out some of that stuff from the side of your house. There looks to be too many things for the rats to hide in, climb on, etc.

That has got to be one of the cutest rats! Do they have a different variety of rat over there or something? He's got more of a mouse face to him.

uh...excuse me?...that's a wee meece...no rat..that's a mice..little tiny baby mice...we have cockroaches in texas bigger than that..hahah

A cat would kill the mice, but I had a cat once that would stick the dead mice in my shoes, and once laid the dang thing on top of me while I was asleep, I woke up and screamed so much I couldn't talk the rest of the day
