Some of you who might be watching the reruns of LOST in syndication on either SciFi (plug), G4 (plug), or even late at night on your local affiliate (...and plug) may notice that my hair was considerably "fluffier" in seasons 1 & 2 (also out on DVD btw).
Before:
After:
My head is not as triangular or "bell-shaped" now.
I just wanted to say, I like the newer look.
P.S. The sour look on my face is pretty much the same though.

You crack me up, you really do.
I did notice the hair was much less fluffy :) It's a good look for you!
"also out on DVD by the way" and again, plug. Gotta love that.
I was wondering if you were using different conditioning products or the new 'do was just a result of the hair being longer and having gotten used to the humidity. As someone whose hair resembles your Seasons 1 & 2 unless I lather it in petrolium jelly, those details matter to me.
A-ha! Another one of the Island's mysteries! Making hair less fluffier...
there was a haircutter on the island o.O
In germany we are just at the end of season 4 but i don't seen a haircutter... except the smoke monster...
BTW: i love the new hair style!
Hey! I do really prefer you new look.
Last weekend we made a Lost Marathon in Barcelona, in a bar called Bharma. We spent 12 hours viewing the best of the Seasons 1,2,3 and 4 (3 episodes per season).
Can't wait for s05e09!
i liked you more before :$
I like it better, too. And my teenage daughter who has never watched Lost walked in the room while I was watching and said, wow! who's the guy with the cool hair!
The sour look works for you, too.
Yours truly,
Barbara, a fan from Pennsylvania :-)
I did notice the new do, and I like it.
What are they using on it to achieve that look?
btw:hated the week off we just had. come on already. i was so glad we were finally getting questions answered and then..........well, let's just say i feel like i'm on my back side because the carpet was pulled out from under me. :-)
lol, yup you look less like Crystal Tips - http://www.au-chat.com/assets/images/Crystal_Tips.jpg
Yup, I have noticed the hair and I'm with you, man...looks better.
Love your snuggie idea, too...living in Florida, though, I've never heard of them before, but they do looky cozy!
I always thought Hurley's hair indicated his mood.. fluffy = happy Hurley. Not fluffy = sad/worried Hurley..
I did in fact notice.
Less fluffy hair is much easier to deal with, don't you think?
reminds me of the "they might be giants" song particle man.
"triangle man, triangle man, triangle man hates particle man, they have a fight, triangle wins. triangle man!"
jejeje, I like it too :)
Your curly haired fans everywhere desperately want to know how you achieved your new look! When it's as humid out as it must be in Hawaii, I can handle nothing else than a pony tail.
I've got to agree with you. I like your hair now.....HUGS
Jewel
The hair differences seem prevalent this season. Evie's hair is definitely different, Daniel's hair is curly (what's up with that? It's like Mike Brady season 4), Josh with his 70's do, and you with the 'wet' look. Of course all of those are not as prominent as the changes in Emilie's hair last season! LOL.
: ) P
I like your new "do" too!
I like it both ways.
You know what's funny? I was noticing that. I also notice the sunstreaks more in your new do too.
Ok so how do they keep your curls this curly and not all fluffed up? Please, do share, cause I mostly look like I just had my finger stuck into a plug.
I feel your pain - we have the same hair except you have a bit more than I do.
It's not sour... it's a look of concern... and the "don't be stupid" look. Because no one ever listens to Hurley. I wish they'd figure out that Hurley and Sayid are always right and Jack is always wrong. Things would have gone a lot smoother in the first few seasons...
i watch a ridiculous amount of reruns. and i have the pilot episode on my xbox so that i can hook my friends who have never seen it .. i think ive seen the first episode about 100 times, because as soon as you get one of your friends to watch the first one they become a "lost lifer"
i dont know anyone who has seen the first episode and said "this is stupid" everyone just sort of looks at me and says, "oh my god tell me you have more."
love the new hair! :)
You are too cute!
I sort of liked the fluffy hair, but I see your point about not having a triangular head. :-)
You're a cutie either way, so whatever floats your boat.
Yeah I had a friend in college who when his hair was normal had shoulder length shirley temple girls. But he wore it in a fro almost all the time. So its like the first picture except puffy all the way around. Anyway I like the bottom one best. But I'm good.
Looks like they found you a good curl-enhancing or anti-frizz gel! I have naturally curly hair as well and it has taken years to perfect the curls so they dont look like an afro. I also like to straighten my hair out as well.
I think you should straighten your hair once and let us all see it! :)
It does look much better less fluffy.
Yeah, and not that you have any control over this, but the week off last week killed me. Reaaallly looking forward to tomorrow night.
I was watching some season 2 on DVD the other day and noticed the difference. The fluffiness makes you look about 18 years old. The new hair is definitely preferable.
Doin' the time warp will do that to a person's hair. Oh, and if I had a snuggie I'd wear it backwards. Makes way more sense to me.
I actually thought that your hair was just wet.... But I like you new hair better as well.
You grew it out quite a bit too, didn't you? I was noticing that the last time the show was on. In any case, lucky you. My hair has to be battered into submission. LOL
I love you so much as Hurley! The curly hair is great, either way!
Yes, it's a little less Roseanne Roseannadanna. I like it.
Im more concerned with the sad face :( How come you have such a sad look, normally Hurley has such a positive outlook-you just chose the bad pics, didn't you :)
my hair does the same triangle thing!
congratulations on the new hair! I love it too!
Oh, Jorge! I agree: I like the way your hair is now better than before. Always lookin good!
I liked the new hair too, but I didnt realize that it was cut. I thought it was just wet.
cant wait to see Lost tomorrow!
I noticed that, too...good! It was not the best shape there for a while.
we totally noticed and commented on it. my theory is that hurley found a curl-relaxing product that was so important to him that he made sure he packed it for his return to the island.
Hurley is always likable, sour face or not... Must be something to do with that fantastic actor, Jorge Garcia, who plays him...
Looking good, far less triangular!
If you notice, I have Hurley hair. I like it my way... Hurley's old way.
But yeah, the less fluffy looks good on you.
Jorge wrote:
"My head is not as triangular or 'bell-shaped' now."
Could be a lot worse. It could be 'egg-shaped' like Terry's.
If you weren't on the show, how would you have your hair?
I dunno, I kind of liked the fluffy hair. :)
I just figured your hair had gotten longer and was weighted down more, so it hung straighter. It definitely takes away the triangle shape.
Either way, still cute.:)
I noticed the new look and thought - ooooooooh! lovely curls!
Haha, I'm rewatching seasons 1-2 right now, and I did notice that.
Love the new hair! What do you use to keep it "tame"?
At our house, we were having the same discussions about the snuggie... I was rolling when I saw that post!
Wonder what you would look like bald.
so... are you gonna give us product tips? What is in your hair to calm those curls? H
WOW!!! Until you posted the before and afters, I would have not even noticed! Geezz..i'm bad! I really do like it more.
Cute. I noticed the flatter hair style and think it looks good!
You know, I was thinking the exact same thing a couple of weeks ago! I have curls exactly like yours (I'm Puerto Rican) and I was wondering what on earth you're using in your hair! It looks fabulous, 'Chacho!!!
That ain't nothin' but an "Ultra-Perm"!
first hairdo reminded me of alice from dilbert. =)
What do they do to manage the curls in the humidity!?
how'd you manage that? extra hair gel? you should throw it up in a pony
I did notice it looks much less poodle like in the later shows. But since you've spent so much time wet as of late, I couldn't be sure.
So...what's your secret? You know you want to tell all your adorable poodle headed followers just how you do it.
Get a haircut hippy!
(I'm joking...before anyone gets upset...)
no. i dig the trianglur dome. it adds character. rock the bell shape dude! rock it.
the scowl's alright, but it'd be cool if they let you have some happiness with the new do.
Sorry to break it to you dude, but SciFi decided that that name "SciFi" is too geeky and changed their name to "Syfy"...
it reminds me of when the cowardly lion gets his hair done in the Emerald City Barber Shop. It goes from Fluffy to Nice luxurious curls. Now you just need a bow.
i noticed! (:
My wife and I always thought you looked like Ralph (the muppet) with your old hairstyle. Love your blog keep the posts coming!
My fiancé's hair resembles look #1 (he's gotten a "Didn't I see you on Lost?" comment on YouTube because of it, actually) so 90% of the time he wears it back in a ponytail. He would probably really like to know how you get look #2.
I honestly figured that your hair was getting longer, or that this was hair & makeup's way of implying that it had gotten longer for the sake of continuity. =)
I just figured that after so long on the island, Hurley had run out of whatever
"fluffinating" hair product he used.
My husband and I recently bought the DVDs and we're rewatching from the beginning. I noticed your hair is less triangular now. I figured it was just because it's longer. It looks good!
My oldest daughter has curly hair like yours, and with my hair being stick straight (Therefore having no clue how to tame the curls)it took us a while to find product that did what we wanted it to.
I noticed your wonderful hair - I thought it was longer and the curls were flatter somehow.
I wish I had hair like that!! Mine is thin, but that's because I'm an old lady. *grin*
:snort: Sour look.
I did notice your hair looking even nicer. You have GREAT hair. I wish my curls were so nice but I suffer from the frizzy.
I have always wondered how the perfect hair is done on Lost. I have never seen anyone get a hair cut but each week no ones hair grows but Hurleys, way to go. I love the longer unfluffy real person hair. Keep on keeping it real.
LOL @ whoever said "that aint nothin but ultra-perm"... Coming to America is the BOMB SHIZZLE.
Also, yeah... I had noticed that someone must have busted out the leave-in conditioner for you! I've got hair that's just a little bit curlier than yours and my curls are THIRSTY! Praise leave-ins.
Two words, dude: Mullet.
Goodness. How odd it must feel to have people analyze your hair! Or to be able to do it to yourself!
Wait...I didn't mean it to come out that way....
Your old hair looks kind of like me circa 1989 when I had a perm. Definitely like the new look better.
I wouldn't call it a sour look. But it does resemble the expression I wore throughout the late '70's when sraight, "feathered" hair was all the rage and I struggled with my own curly locks.
Did you change your hair, or did the show? And if you don't mind my asking, how much of that curl is natural and how much is intentional?
Just curious.
BTW, I think you should use your celebrity status to campaign for the Pocket Snuggie. I really want one.
How did Hurley find hair gel on the island?? :-)
Your old hair reminds me of Gilda Radner's "Roseanne Roseannadanna" character from SNL.
"It's always somethin. Either you can't keep your feet warm in a Snuggie, or your hair looks like a a tv character from the 70's!"
So did you thin the hair or discover a great product?
Season One's hair was a little Rosanna Rosannadanna-ish... but you made it work.
I just wanted to thank you for your kindness in Kailua yesterday. I know you must be approached by many fans eager for photos. Thank you and your girlfriend so much for your graciousness. It meant so much!
It's like reverse humidity.
Sure Huerly. The question is ,will it stay still.
I have to say that my husband and I were watching Season 3 on DVD last night and I did notice that you're hair was a lot less fluffy.
The season 1 and season 2 hair reminded me of Mark Volman circa the early 70's.
New hair, much better.
Hey! It's good to see you !!!
I have noticed your new hairdo...
I have a question for you:
Does Jacob have anything to do with it??
Well, regards from Argentina
I am glad you found some Dharma Initiative Hair Product ;)
:) Actually, my daughter and I were talking about how Sawyer's hair looks flatter than it did in previous seasons.. and we're wondering if it's anything to do with their being in the '70s.. it's so weird recognizing that it sort of went with the '70's era shirt he was wearing. Having been a teenager in that decade, it's too strange to see representations of it. When those styles came back in the late '90s early '00's, my daughter wanting bell bottoms I couldn't understand it.
We are sooo excited about seeing a new ep tonight, a two week wait has been driving us nuts. Though we've been enjoying the theories being put forward by extreme Lost fans, explaining one thing or another, for example, possible connections for Geronimo Jackson.
I liked how your hair looked in an interview on the video podcast recently. Less puffy and longer than in early seasons, but less greasy/wet looking than the current season. It looked very healthy. But I suppose on the island or even running around Los Angeles it would not be realistic for it to be so perfectly curled and dry all the time.
Either way, a very lovely head of hair.
I have super straight, boring hippie hair. I'd do just about anything for some body or texture. I'd even rock a triangle, if I could. But, nope, it's all just hangin' there.
Looking forward to seeing how you and your new hair do in the Dharma Initiative.
Yeah, I like your new floof-free hair. What I'm wondering though, is how you do it when you are not on set. Yeah, I've seen pics on here from your vacations and it's pretty much the same, but do you ever stick it up in a ponytail? Do you wear it floofy or curly? LOL
Fluffy looks good on you too, but your new hair looks way cool!
As a curly-girl myself I can appreciate a no-fluff hairdo. :)
I absolutely noticed the new hair... love it. Much better than the "fluff". Of course, it makes you look a little more like you're ready for a fight too. Watch out Others!
The new hair definitely suits you better! My friend makes the "Jessicurl" line of products - awesome for curly hair - or straight for that matter. My curly-haired friends, including Jess herself, sear by it.
You have been and will always be my fave lost character. I just started reading your blog and it's way cool. Thanks for sharing and being so "real"!
By the way, I *totally* dig that green shirt with the white material. I've got something similar with horizontal only.
I suppose that's a wardrobe shirt and not something off the rack that I could get somewhere.
You know what's funny about this? I always watch LOST with my mom, and the other day she goes, "He looks different lately, doesn't he? What is it?" and I said, "I think it's his hair -- it's longer." Now we know!
You know...I like it better fluffier. You remind me of my boyfriend. He kinda looks like you. Seriously. The second one just looks like my boyfriend after a shower.
You are a hoot. I love it.
Nothing wrong with the new do. Personally I really liked the big do.
I did notice! I like the new look. And while we're talking about hair I'll mention that I like 'Sayid's' (my apologies for not remembering his real name) island hair much more than the flat ironed look off island. ;)
If we had a season 7 of LOST planned, we'd get to see Kate cutting Hurley's hair. :)
I thought that my daughter was the only one who described her hair as triangular. She'll be proud to be in the same triangle-reformed group as you are.
Your hair rocks, brotha!
Awe, your face isn't sour!
I see I am not the only one using "Cat" as a user name! Hi, other Cat!
Your hair does look much more flattering than the triangle style. Pretty cool.
Hmmmmmm you mentioned SciFi. I am a loyal viewer of SciFi but a bunch of other LOST fans and I, who hadn't had a chance to watch from the beginning, felt SciFi left us in the dust. We got hooked on watching every week at a certain day/hour, and then they kept changing the schedule without warning, causing us to miss many episodes. Then they went and totally skipped a whole bunch, too. Thank God for Netflix, eh! I had tried the ABC full-episode player, but it always kept repeating the first chapter and wouldn't go to the next one. Other people reported the same prob.
Anyway, sometimes it's not easy trying to keep up.
New hair? I thought they'd just run out of shampoo on the island...and razors...and green t-shirts.
I'm kidding...you're awesome either way, Jorge! :)
Reminds me of Weird Al. He went from fluffy to slick a few years ago. I'm not sure which I like best but no matter, you're hilarious. I love your blog!
