I saw Marley and Me.
This movie kinda messed me up. I wasn't expecting to cry for the entire last half hour. My favorite part was in the commercial. It's where the puppy eats kibble while he's sprawled out on the kitchen floor. By the way, the clip is longer in the commercial.
And The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
Now I like this movie, but I have one problem with it. Benjamin starts the movie as an old baby. And grows younger and younger until he (SPOILER ALERT!) dies as a young baby. Do you see what's wrong here? If he was the size of a baby (only old) when he was born. Then technically he should be the size of a man only... baby-ish when he is near death. Right? So he should really look like the kids at www.manbabies.com.

Never seen any of them :/ But I think i've seen bits from the last one, but at the time I didnt know its name. Might check on that one again, thanks for posting that one :).
P.S Still waiting for season 5 of LOST. :)
good review!:) I would look the second film with pleasure, but in Russia it will show not earlier than through a floor of year!
p.s. In Russia 4 season has been started to show only these days, but I'm waiting for season 5 :)
hagrid - u r too clever : P
Hi Jorge~
I watched "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" tonight. I loved it. I thought Brad Pitt did a phenomenal job. I cried for the last half hour. It's based on a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It was just heartbreaking :::SPOILER ALERT::
to watch Daisy take care of him as he de-aged. I was weepy for the last 30, but started bawling in the last scene when he died. I knew it was going to be sad before I watched it, but I also knew that it was going to be an exceptional movie and I had to see it. I'm glad I did.
As to "Marly and Me"...nope not going to watch it. I couldn't get thru the first half hour of "8 Below" without busting out the box of Kleenex. I was warned ahead of time by a friend what to expect.
Jorge, the site you linked... it... boggles my mind... o__O
(sorry for the deleted comment, I wanted to edit and Blogger won't let me :-C)
i not have idea
"Marly and Me" ?
I have not seen the trailer in
oh my! those man babies are creepy! Lol
I wanted to see Marley and Me but I know I will cry. I cry with anything that has to do with dogs. I'm a real crybaby ever since I lost my childhood dog, even though that was like 6 years ago!
I need a puppy.
Wow, I'm suprised how few people saw Marley & Me. It was such a good movie, but I totally agree about like the last half hour. I don't even like kids, but when they were reading, it was like, "what the hell?!?! I can't take this!" and then when she said the thing about the necklace...aw man, that movie kicked my butt. and the music... I bet they got the biggest hardass in the studio that day and made him watch, bet he would have bawled like a baby.
Creepiest. Link. Ever.
I haven't seen Marley and Me yet, I've read the book, I know what happens, and I'm not looking forward to crying my head off at the movie theater.
As a rule, I refuse to watch tearjerker movies in the theater. I wait till they come out on cable or dvd so I won't embarass myself. LOL
The beauty of Marley and Me is that any and probably every dog owner can relate in someway. Yes its a true story and all, but it was well done. I'm currently reading the book "The Art of Racing In The Rain," which is a story told from a dogs perspective in a very whitty way....I highly recommend it!
Fincher said they ran out of money to do the man-baby. So they had to settle for a real baby instead.
In the original story Benjamin Button is born man-sized. I think the mental images this generates made them change it for the film...
I agree with you about Benjamin Button. It was the only part of the whole movie I didn't like.
That's a very good point! And leave it to you to find the perfect website to illustrate what you mean for us, as usual!
X-D
I was thinking the same thing when I watched it. It's much easier to believe in a biological anomaly than something that defies the laws of physics all together.
Double feature of sadness!
I don't think I will see either one.
Zaney romantic comedies, yep thats me...or action, like the Borne series.. although...from time to time, the sad ones make into my viewing, and I cry like a baby. And say , "WHHHHYYYY, did I watch that?" My husband laughs and says I'm silly.
Great reviews! Re: Button: I was just going to say the same thing queeniefox did. In F. Scott Fitzgerald's story (which is like the movie only in that a guy is born an old man and dies young and finds love in the middle) he's born an old man, full-sized. But the thought of how exactly that would happen is rather horrific when considering the birth mother (it would bring to mind that early episode of Fringe :::shudder:::), so they altered it (BTW, if memory serves, the mom is OK in Fitzgerald's story and I remember after he's born the first thing the dad does is go out and buy a full-sized man's suit for the baby). I think the ending actually makes sense. If his body is getting younger, then the cells that would have been forming to make him bigger would actually be disappearing, making him smaller. I think? I have a humanities degree... what I know about science would fit on the tip of the baby's little finger. As he turned into a senile toddler I felt the lump in my throat get bigger and bigger (probably because I have a boy toddler right now). But that scene at the end (SPOILER) where the baby looks up at Daisy with recognition and then closed his eyes completely slayed me, like Nikki said. I was a mess leaving the theater.
Hello! Jeorge, our names are Katianna and Skylar. Katianna loves Lost and watches it when the complete season comes out, because she dosn't have cable. You are one of both Sky and Katianna's favorite characters, because of your funny personality that brightens up the show. Please come check out our blog... Adventures of Sky and Kati. I hope you will comment. Kati and Sky
alright...that website just messed me up for life.
heheh now I gotta show it to my oldest son and mess him up for life even more than I already have!!!!! Mauahahahahahaha!!!!
that website is hysterical, I was cracking up! Haven't seen either movie but have been told by others to see Marley & Me at home. I'm waiting for the Underworld: Rise of the Likens...YES! But, must wait for my husband to return...promises promises.
Totally off topic..you were in my dream last night. So weird! There was some kind of carnival in Hale'iwa and you and I went there together and we each rode these little Shriner like cars?! And there was a little boy who was homeless and lived on the beach there that we befriended and fed. We parked our little shriner cars in a multi story parking complex...which do not exist in Hale'iwa LOL! Anyway, it was WEIRD and I have NO idea what any of it means. No drinking, etc. before bed either?! Can't remember what I was watching on TV though, maybe a LOST re-run came on while I was asleep and got in my sub-conscious?
I didn't see any of those movies but my daughter saw Marley and Me and she cried for the last half hour also! I cannot see it because I have a dog who's 9 already and you know. I heard Benjamin Button was good but I'll probably see it on DVD. Can't wait for Lost Season 5 - only 9 more days!!
Okay. That's just bizarre.
I read about the second movie as well!! Now it is certainly interesting and new to watch the life of someone in reverse...
Take care Jorge
peace
xoxo
Seriously! Marley and Me like tore the tears out from everything for an entire HALF HOUR, that is fricken nuts. Props to the director, job well done, and super cute puppy. I was looking forward to the sliding kibble scene but it was cut a bit too short.
I haven't seen Benjamin Button but I agree with what you say which is *why* I haven't gone to see it. And in all fairness, if I don't see a Brad Pitt movie, I couldn't possibly see a Jennifer Aniston movie. That would be like picking sides. I'd rather remain neutral which is why I went to see a Will Smith movie instead. ;-)
I cried buckets watching Marley & Me. My son confessed he did, too.
I wanted to be excited enough about Curious Case to see it, but the whole idea just seemed too weird for me.
I shouldn't have clicked that link.
I haven't seen Benjamin Button, but it's on the list... of course I read the spoiler, and, it practically told me what I already had in mind... well, I was thinking he'd actually go out as a zygote.
I bawled when READING "Marley & Me", so there's no way I'll actually go watch the movie in public.
As for "Button", I'll wait until it comes out in DVD.
never been a fan of animal movies. nothing against dogs or cats (well, maybe cats...), but movies about them never intrigued me.
as for the new season of lost, i hope more will be revealed about the dharma initiative and the secrets of the island, especially jacob, richard*, and matthew* (the two guys who appear to travel thru time).
my guess is daniel faraday will play a bigger role as the secrets of the island start to be revealed...
I saw both. I totally agree. My girls want to see Marley and Me (age 5 and 8) and it's hard to explain why they can't go see this dog movie they've heard about. Tear JERKER!
And BB! Loved it too, and that's what I've been telling people too! He should have been adult sized but baby! YES! It BUGGED me! Other than that, excellent film.
Hi Jorge! I'm Santiago from biggest polish LOST fansite - www.4815162342.pl. We have a lot of fans, here, in Poland. I'm wondering, if you could give us, polish fan, some short interviev, or mayby special photo, or short clip, saying hi to us! We would be so happy:) Please, contact me santiagopoland@gmail.com !! Cheers
Haven't seen Marley and Me yet. I wanted to read the book first and procrastinator that I am, I haven't gotten around to reading the book first.
Benjamin Button...I already know I'm going to cry, which is why I don't want to see it. As for what bothered some people with regard to what size Benjamin was born, etc., and after having read what Nikki Stafford said about F. Scott Fitzgerald's short story,...I'm not quite sure what to say. We wouldn't have liked it if the special effects were uneven or cheesy looking, it would have completely taken away from the film. From what I've seen of them, they don't even look like the kind of special effects that will date themselves ridiculously within a few years. On the other hand, I can definitely relate to wanting to stuff to at least have some kind of logic to it, even when it's fantasy.
All Blue Zoo, I'm waiting on Underworld:Rise of the Lycans too. I didn't even know there was going to be a three, so I was giddy.
That website was bizarre, Jorge.
Hey! Jorge please look at my blog, it is The Adventures of Kati and Sky, at www.adventuresofskyandkati.blogspot I love to watch Lost and would absolutly LOVE to become only friends with you. Hi Jorge
I am so excited to tell you that I have made reservations to vacation on Oahu late May of this year.
Wow can't believe I did it!!!!
Hope to see all the Lost filming sites on one of those tours. Guess you won't be filming that early but maybe I can luck out and run into a Lostie while I am doing some retail theropy around Waikiki.

Sorry soooooooo sorry
Kati
Jorge, sent you a SASE today. Hope you get it ok. Be sure to check out the little picture inside, sure it's Photoshopped, but it's the thought that counts, right?
I wanted to see it, but since I lost my chocolate lab Sloopy a couple months ago, I didn't think I could handle it. I haven't decided on another dog yet. Maybe someday, but right now it still hurts too much.
I agree whole heartedly about Benjamin Button. And wasn't it just a little creepy when he's all goo-goo-gah-gah over little whatsername? I mean, a little too Chimo? (In case you don't know, Chimo is a nice way of saying Child Molester) Yeah, I know he was only seven, but he looked SEVENTY-seven, and THAT is just too creepy.
p.s. What's it like working with Jack (whatever the actor's name is, We'll call him Patty o five), because I just have to be honest here, I ran into him at a Beck concert in Atlanta back in oh 2005 or so and he wasn't very nice. I don't know, maybe he wasn't in a good mood but I can't imagine why. Who doesn't like beck?
I haven't seen Benjamin Button yet, but that link is hilarous, lol.
I know what I'm doing for next year's Christmas cards now, LOL.
that was the only small problem I had with it as well
i'm sorry...but Marley and Me? WORST MARKETING OF A MOVIE EVER.
the tagline? heel the love? how about laugh a little bit for most of the movie and the cry like a little baby when we RIP your heart out of your chest and stomp on it. twice.
Omg. manbabies.com is the single most disturbing photoshopping site i have ever seen. lol when babies have adult size bodies they look like crazed monsters or something. often times it looks like they are going to chomp on heads any minute...
oh, and any movie that involves animals that makes me cry? Can't do it. I love animals tooooo much.
The idea of Ben Buttons just makes me feel uncomfortable, so I'll probably not see it. But when I think of Man Babies I think of this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_5Wduvq9pc
(This is part 1 of 3)
:-D
I had the same problem with Benjamin Button as you did, but I thought it was a wonderful movie. I reviewed it on my blog.
Happy New Year to you!
Can't wait for Lost to start!!!
There are technical reasons why Benjamin Button couldn't have come to term and been born as a full-sized old man unless his mother was the size of a whale. No, seriously, of a real whale, size-wise.
Birthing a full-sized old man should not have been a problem. After all, on SNL, Rachel Dratch gave birth to a fully-grown Will Ferrell.
I'm gonna skip Marley and Me. I don't do well with animal-cry movies. At. All.
I do want to see BB. Your theory makes sense.
And that website...creepy. I might have a bad dream or two tonight.
Really? All that from a guy who's show has mean black smoke who can be summoned & an island that can be moved!?.
SOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited for tonight's premier. Can't wait to go back.
I LOVE HURLEY!!! :)
Hi Jorge,
I just happened upon your blog--and I NEVER comment on anyones blog but this one is really great. I appreciate that it is informative, funny--and short and sweet. I hate long blogs! haha..
Anyway, I totally agree about Benjamin Button. I thought the exact same thing--he should not have died as an infant. But I thought maybe I was just missing something. Maybe we both are. haha..take care. Simone
dude you totally spoiled the ending for me, hahaha, its ok, im seeing it anyways.
greeting all the way from Ecuador (in the south pacific).
LMAO manbabies.com, too funny, and so right. I didn't like how he was an old baby, in the story he's born a little old man that can already talk and walk. and yes marley and me was sooo sad
I couldn't agree more about Marley and Me!! I was completely pissed when I walked out of that movie, especially since I just put my dog to sleep last year. They just took that scene too far! Seeing the dog's eyes slowly close just about sent me over the edge. I 'ugly' cried.
Jorge, by the way, I'm loving the new season of LOST! I can't wait to see how the rest of the season plays out.
I didn't cry at all, but then again I'm a cat person. Catz rule!
As for "Benjamin Button", they used the baby in the end because it was easier, no more special effects.
