Hall H

I forgot to pack the cord for my camera. So two of my Comic Con posts were actually phone pictures I took of my camera's display screen.

But I'm home now and I was able to get the pics off the camera.

Here is my POV shot of the LOST Panel in Hall H.

It was a fun panel. The trickiest part was moving from the microphone to the side curtain in the dark, because there were so many people taking pictures, it was a barrage of flash bulbs between me and the exit curtain. But I made it and was able to get to the stage.

That's the bed you're looking at.
So... you might want to book Ma her own room.

Grandma What Big BAGS You Have

Hands down, the biggest thing at Comic Con these days is the bags they give out.
I've never seen bags this huge.

Con

Hey sorry if I didn't take a picture with you when I was in the exhibit hall. It's unfortunately too busy of a venue to accommodate everyone who
wants a photo with me. If you see me on the street, I owe you one.

Someone Wants a Slurpee

Driving through Marin over 4th of July weekend we drove past a deer walking to a 7-Eleven parking lot.
We had to turn the car around to get a closer look. Just like a nature show huh? Complete with asphalt, paint, and concrete.

Went to Muir Woods

This is Muir.
And this is the woods.
Yes. I said I'll kiss you for a quarter. But you haven't given me the quarter yet. No, give me the quarter first. Okay same time. Same time.
If a beaver ever asks for your help, tell him your busy.

This Summer's Greatest Toy Surprise

is this guy.
A Zing "Hot Wingz" Glider
It's just a little foam plane with a rubber band hooked under it.
Doesn't look like much but this thing can flies fast and far.
You shoot it just like you were flinging a rubber band at someone.
Beth's already had to climb on the roof twice to get it for me.

More toys

Also from the store in Sausalito.
Zombie finger puppets.

I found this Sumo Wrestler that sits on top of the fridge.
He stays in place because he has magnets in his feet.
Watchers of Sumo on television will recognize this angle.
By the way I like the detail of making his cheeks rosy.

And this bin.

Taller? What, like a giant?

I don't remember parking meters being so low.

:) then :( then LMAO

I was so surprised to see the Wienermobile in Kaneohe the other day. Seeing the Wienermobile is like seeing Haley's comet, years may go by before you get a chance to see it again. :)

But then I was saddened to hear that it might have been around because Oscar Mayer had just passed away. :(

We googled it at lunch and this popped up:

Oscar G. Mayer, the meat processing exec whose wiener delighted generations of Americans, has died at the age of 95.

LMAO

Truth be told I was surprised that an actual person named Oscar Mayer would still be alive. I mean how old is that company? One thing I can say though, I'm pretty sure those jingles will live forever.

The Randomest Toy I Bought this Summer

Different store in Sausalito had this. That's right "Crunching Dog."
You plug him into your USB port and he does sit-ups.
Actually I think it's a "she" because the dog is wearing a sports bra (without pants by the way).
By the way check out the abs on this bitch. (I use "bitch" in it's literal, canine sense.)

Her she is in action.

Yup, that's pretty much it.

The Best Toy I Bought this Summer

Even though I am technically grown up and have no children, I can't walk by a toy store without looking inside.

I'm especially a sucker for toys I'd never seen before.

Some don't always deliver as promised. I recently picked up this Balloon Helicopter in Sausalito and got it to work only once as described on the box.
The rest of the the time it fell to the ground whistling annoyingly until the air ran out. I honestly think the only reason anyone would tolerate the noise this thing makes is if it actually flew.

However one toy that for me delivered exactly as I thought it would is Kid Galaxy's "Bump and Chuck RC Bumper Cars."
I picked it up at FAO Schwarz in New York and travelled with it for weeks before getting it home to actually get to try it out.

It took a little to get it working. But once I did I've had nothing but fun with this thing.
It basically takes the greatness of "Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots" and goes "one louder" by making them remote controlled cars.
You chase each other around until one of you bumps the other on one of the two side buttons, sending your opponent's driver into the air. It's a lot of fun.

Hmm...

It appears cucumbers inflate the same way balloon animal balloons do.

Reunited and it feels so good

Of course you do. We've been up all night worried sick since. Well I'm happy to report that it has been found. Ta-dah!
It was totally random. I had a random duffle bag sitting on my dresser for a while. I unzipped it and found it full of random items.
Including two unmatched socks and a single ear plug.
It looks like this might have been the result of a rapid cleanup. (You know, where you put a bunch of clutter that you have no idea what to do with in a bag, box, or suitcase.)

Now it's all safely back in the bag. Except for the shoe of course.

Stay tune for my next blog, "Lost: two socks."

Just kidding.

Little Bird's Nest... er... NETS!

Well it turns out my protective netting has met it's match. Smaller birds.
It doesn't do me any good when these guys can slip through he holes in the net.
So now I've resorted to a net within the net.
It's not pretty.
But hopefully it will slow them down.

Today's Harvest : Carrots and Jicama

While tilling the soil for my "do over" project I discovered some root veggies.
So I took them inside right away.
I don't know what made my carrots grow like Laurel and Hardy. But the thicker one had better flavor for me.
The jicama was great. Also because I had no idea that any of the seeds actually grew. That section of the garden was sloppily planted and both of these were plants had their tops eaten off by the time I got to them. I ended up finding a second jicama later as well.

This is the Biggest Snail I had ever seen!

At least that's what I thought until I found the next one. I didn't take a picture of that one because I was afraid a pattern might form and the snails would keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger.

I've got my work cut out for me

Man I leave for a month and the garden grows like crazy.
So do weeds apparently.
This cucumber vine grew through the protective netting.
One of the cucumbers tried to squeeze through the trellis.

They were huge. But they didn't have much flavor. Well the bent one didn't. The yellow one was gross inside. (I think a bug got in.)

The Ears Story

So As I showed you guys a couple of days ago. When I first got Nunu she looked like this:

One ear up and one ear down.
Then about a week later her other ear popped up.

She was a puppy so she was going through a series of shots.
One of the shots she got must have been pretty rough because both of her ears fell.

I thought, "Oh no they broke my dog!"

But they were up again the next day. (Whew!)

And have been up ever since.
Except when they're folded back.
